110 Thumb Openers

The massivgoods guy finally fixed the shipping charges.
It may have helped that throughout i was super polite and mentioned how i had searched for info on him but found no bad info at the various knife sites i post on.
Maybe the problem was just a glitch on his part, either way its fixed now.

I just paid the originally quoted 4.99$ shipping plus the 9.72 total for the three thumbstuds.
Now the wait for them to get here.

Edit: I just found a personal email from massivgoods in my inbox, very friendly polite and apologetic, seems like hes a decent guy after all.

I just received one from massivgoods. The price was low and the shipping cost to Australia reasonable by most standards. Delivery was reasonably fast. Came through customs without a hitch.

It works but is not the most elegant thing I have seen. Like a few other posters have mentioned, the gap at the back is large and they are obviously designed for a knife with a very thick blade. Not really a great fit on the 110 which is hardly a mini knife - it makes you wonder what they were designed for.
Darn oh well i guess i'm getting the same ones then.
At least i can use one of them on my very thick bladed SOG Tomcat.
All this has made me rethinking my need for a thumbstud anyway.
I've only had my 110 for a month or so but i've gotten pretty good at the pinch and flick one hand opening method.
I'm ordering a Buck 112 FG this week and i think i'll order a Buck 55 before spring gets here.
After just coming out of a 2 year SAK/multi-tool kick a new lockblade and buck buying trend has taken hold, lol!
:D

Got the thumb studs, they work great!
They are the thicker ones though.
Got one on my new Buck 110FG and will put one on my plain 110 later.
The stud just fits my very thick bladed SOG Tomcat (first gen).

Anybody try mounting a thumb-stud on a Buck 55?
Would it work or would it look too ridiculously big?
I'm really wanting a 55 but haven't seen one in person so can't judge on size issues.

I got mine on ebay. One problem though it wont fit into the black balstic belt sheath. I now need to find out how to put a pocket clip on it and i will have a perfect daily carry!

The 110 with thumbstud will fit in the regular leather sheath.
They sell the leather sheaths alone on ebay.
Just for fun I might try carrying mine in my SOG Tomcat ballistic sheath, it can be worn horizontal or vertical. (I used to always carry the SOG horizontally).

Anyone know if the current ones on ebay sold by the massivgoods guy are the thicker (i.e. wider) ones that leave a gap between the blade? Can't really tell by his photos.

Yes the ones massivgoods sells are the wider thicker ones that leave a gap (when installed on a 110).
Got three of them in the mail a couple of days ago, but the gaps not bothering me that much and they work fine.

If Smokey-Mountain ever gets the regular less-wide ones in stock i might buy some of those.
:)

Finally got to handle a Buck 55 yesterday. Man they are tiny!
Similar in size to a 91mm SAK.
At least now i know the thumbstub would be too huge to mount on the little 55!
I might pick up a 112 FG so i'll have a knife to mount my third thumbstud on, lol!

I might buy a 55 eventually though as they are kinda neat and i can actually find them locally and handpick one.
