111 classics

I have over ten of the silver handled ones! Great knives! I prefer the mirror finish blades.

The gold finish with damascus blade is very eye-catching. What's the story behind the 426 - factory or aftermarket? OH

OH, he likely got a 426 blade and had it installed in the 111 Classic handle. The blade came out in 1985 before the year date stamp and is likely 425M steel. They were first seen in the Buck lites handle. I never thought that drop point had the eye appeal and design that the Selector skinner blades have. Still, interesting history and Buck's first drop point for a 110. DM

These are definitely beautiful, I don't know that I'd ever have one though as a knife that fancy would make me look bad.
Can't go around having a knife that looks nicer than I do.

How about the back story on the brass frames? Only a very few have shown up and only fairly recently. One on the bay went in excess of $400.00..Are they engineering samples or something similar? Skyler you mentioned one to me like 6 months ago I think? I just love oddball Bucks like these and wish there were more odd 112 type items to chase and dream about. .

bucksway asks good questions,,
to educate folks
in some ways more things change more they stay the same
Back in the days of old before the move to Idaho there were a Lot of things that left bucks factory in lunch boxes or in supervisors pockets -this I been told by thoes that had them in said boxed or pockets (and sold to me) and tomes they asked and Chuck said yes or ok most the time , some times with a don’t make it a habit ... many times they never asked no one - thus are “ lunch box knives” la-jit buck knives !
Bucksway said we’re NO drop point 112s then omg one day he got a box from Buck with a drop point 112 that he said did not exist !!! Liked to have to change his pants !
there are elves that do things in brightly lit dungeons at buck and several buckroo hobbits here do tinkering at home shops i have a 560 like that
The drop point and brass knives have pins a home hobbit can not do correctly but that a co worker at buck could get done .
Like another bucking nut job here I makes it my job to find any old time buck employee to get stuff from and Most times I get it only after a sollom val to not reviles their names
Some buck employees are known like the one who marks ALL His creations with LR. ((And I have some of his marked like this )) while
EDIT: there are other home customizers that BUCKS lawyers politely tells em all to do.. cause so dayum many many knives get sent to buck cause somebody was sold/told em they had a fer really real Ginuwine Buck brand knife and Dey gets rude and crude cause buck won’t replace em edit end:
From my dark dealings I tell you that lots of Xemployees in San D. Are selling things they had made at buck - heck chucks brother traded knives fer things ...
the brass ones were from a “employees relative” as they ided them self and looked like ... well future furtlizer ... the drop point- I had both of the only two I knows of and now one lives in Germany.
ITE has one brass one he got from a former employee I could not locate and a former Xemployee as bucksway said sold one on ebay in rough shape fer 450 buck coupons .
The brass ones I was told were some thing -some ones Experimental idea- I checked the pattern and it is the same pattern.. I had them cleaned up ect by leroy.
I had/have a knife or two I can’t say we’re they come from Tell some one dies
Acquiring rare bucks is like mucking around the dark web ... ya mays find a morsel! or a bite dat will make ya sick over the money ya lost...

Leroy has been stamping his initials on bucks for over 35 years not because a lawyer told him to LOL

Hell Yea, ya is totally absolute correct admondo on dat point!!! But I heard from a bird dat bucks legal dept has politely asked other guarded tinkerers to mark their work.
I guess I shoulda been a bit more wordy and used smart words to gets dat point across
I in no ways ment dat leroy was told to mark his work( he does it cause he is dat dayum good at what he does!! And dat datum prowed of it!! ) but that others have been asked due to lots of confuseion about a custom buck a buck custom when de damm correct statement would be “”” aftermarket customized Buck Brand Knives””” Edit : preavious post edited and bigger smarter words used to make me self mo clearer

Chuck had a big heart and knew how to keep the employees happy.

He wasn't no bean counter.

:D
If he didn’t have too I guess he didn’t
I know that many took advantage of privileges ... could be he should have been tighter who knows I am sure he did exactly what he wanted or felt he needed to do
I miss him ... he was nice to me ... to me he was the grand father type I wish I had had ...

be great if they reissued them. the brass ones are just fantastic. a titanium version would be nice too.

It looks to me like the brass 111’s have decorations that are in relief and the Al decoratons are recessed. It may be the lighting. The production knives were embossed with dies placed in a drop hammer. The Aluminum was dead soft. The stuff is sticky if you try to drill or tap it.
I am pretty sure that neither Titanium nor Brass would lend itself to the “coining” process. The force required to emboss brass is 3-4X that required for Aluminum. The resistance to deformation is tied to tensile strength.
My guess is that the Brass knives were engraved by hand. Don’t hold your breath for embossed Ti unless you can find a massive hobbing press.

I have a few with the satin blade. I prefer the mirror blades ( have them too).....Were the satin ones really limited to 2,000?
