112 FG : Getting Pocket Melted : W.I.P. * ( project complete)

What diameter brass rod did you use to replace the pins? Did you use brass on the lock bar pivot? Just curious, I am in the process of a similar project too.

Oh man - Duane, that is stunning - and I mean that! thanks for the wip - I love to see your works in process.

I have been watching that auction site to find an old beater for cheap - I'll get one and you'll be the first to know (because I'll be bugging you about what I am doing wrong lol )

best

Thanx guys!
It feels so good when they are finally done...
Funny to spend so much time getting all those scratches out... Then to only toss them into the pocket and putting new scratches on them :D :)

Okay, I just got back to this thread. I looked in when you first started, then always had something else I had to do. That knife is just plain gorgeous!! I really like the look of the dark/black wood too.

I don't have anything planned just yet because I have another backpacking trip coming up real soon. I did take the blade out of an old "experimental" 110. The thing I noticed on your new blade was a bushing. I don't recall a bushing on the 110. Did I just miss that or does this have something to do with the 442 blade?? The hole on my 110 blade is the same size as the pin I took out. Just wonderin'??

Anyway....EXCELLENT JOB!!!! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I'm guessing your 110 is pre dot... IIRC the bushing came in on the two dot... Also there were changes along the way to the lock bar ergonomics and tang heights... It can be kinda " fun " fitting a new blade to an old lockbar... And there are two paths you can take!

After all that work.......I'd provide an "alone" pocket!!

:)

Ahhh....another learning experience!! It is a 3 liner, pre dot from about 1973. Thanks!! I have made lots of knives purdy, but this was the first I've taken apart. Just playin' with this one. :)

That looks great! I think id carry my buck all the time if it was shaved down like that. Might try to give that a go my self sometime!

Thanx BG! I just finished perusing my notes and I agree on the 3 Ditter...someday I'll actually get a 3Dot 112 in pristine shape ...
All my knives have an Alone pocket...even so...tiny scratches occur from the moment of first use :D
It's OK though

That's a beautiful knife! Great work! I can't believe Buck wouldn't sell a ton of these if they went into production.
