thanx again guys, it means a lot :)

African Blackwood is my new favorite wood for scales!! I love that look....nice clean lines. That whole knife is superb!!

I can attest to how these Sitflyer Specials actually do "melt" in your pocket.

Thanks for walking us through all the processes of your artwork.:thumbup::thumbup:

Sit,
Can you get a semi-accurate weight on this one vs. full weight on an unaltered model? I'd be curious how much you "shaved off".

Great work!!

I don't have a scale that can measure such things, sorry.
Maybe the hobby shop has a scale...I will check.

As an owner of both a 500 and a 112, the later of which has slightly melted bolsters (nothing compared to Duane's work!!!), I find that weight is NOT the issue for better pocket carry. For me the issues are (in order of impact):
1) thinner profile
2) melted edges
3) weight

Many of us would all line up to get one! Have you considered putting a/your 'mark' on your customs??

First, Thank You bucksway! For me this is just a hobby so far, I have given my knives to family and friends...actually only three of my knives are currently outside of family...I have thought about a "mark" and a name...
Maybe a nice S with wings ;) done in an acid etch

And to think....I knew him before he was an "S" with wings!! :)

We all knew he showed talent with the meager tools he uses. Just think what he could do if he had more than an ordinary hand drill to work with.

By the way sitflyer, I looked up African Blackwood this morning. Not only does it look fantastic on this knife you worked on, it sounds like a VERY durable choice. I've bookmarked a couple sources for when I get back from my hike.

Duane just AWESOME work and TALENT with such primitive tools but the most important tool being your mind with the know how and idea's Thanks Again for the post and also for my Sits Slimmed Fit 112 pre etched collector 112 (OK USER ITS IN THE POCKET NOW) GREAT JOB ONCE MORE KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK

KEEP EM SHARP

I know I sound like a stinking broken record every time Duane posts one of his beauties, but it is just beyond me that Buck isn't doing something like this as an on-going production knife.

I'm convinced that the Ecolite 112 would be better with this sort drop point blade. And better yet with a slightly thinner, more pocket friendly handle.

And as much as I love my 500 (in my pocket right now), it's not *the* Buck knife in terms of looks. That is reserved for the brass & ebony look (if not in actuality) of the classic 110 and 112. Problem is, the huge 110 and thick as a brick 112s are from an era where belt holstered knives were more acceptable. If Buck wants to sell more of *the* Buck knife, they need to make it more pocket friendly. A thinned 112 (available in both clip and drop points) should be offered. Like somebody said above, many of us would line up for it.
