Lower blade etching can barely be read

I see Red Flags in this photo above, & hope someone who is more of an Emerson Expert chimes in.

Nope, not normal. To be honest, that's the worst I've ever seen. Sorry you got one like that. Nobody likes to send new things back for issues, so it's not much consultation, but they'll make it right.

I myself would contact BladeHQ and request a replacement. I know it's not their baby, but they are a dealer, a big one at that, and a good bunch of guys from my experience. I think they'd take care of you. Not to mention, the turn around would be much quicker.

Worst one I have ever seen. I have seen a lot of them. Fit and finish has been getting better on the new models (except yours).

Where is EmersonRep when you need an expert. I am sure they could read the information in the Serial # that must mean something about date of manufactured etc.

I know that Emerson sometimes uses blades from older batches, but I'm surprised that the your knife has standoffs (which are very recent) and the blade looks like it's from 2011.

- The year or manufacture is in the middle of the logo.

Thanks for the heads up, but being perfectly honest if this knife was truly new factory fresh I am very surprise that EKI's quality control standards are, or were this poor. The photo posted are very very good quality, and illustrated the problems described in word well.

That knife is a mess and would never leave the factory that way. It's weird because Blade HQ is a reputable dealer. There was an issue with laser etching before and we were aware of it. Only a small number of knives got through. Sorry that you received the knife that way. The scratches would make the knife a "factory second" and never be sold. If you can, please send the knife back to us. We will fix everything that it needs if not replace it completely. If you can also send the receipt from Blade HQ showing that you purchased the knife from them recently. We will also cover the shipping. Fill out the form on our website. Thank You and sorry about that knife. I'd be pissed too.

 Very cool to have an Emerson Rep on hand to help when things like this occur. Well done; nice to know you can get taken care of when things go wrong.

EKI does not use blades from older batches as every blade made is finished into a complete knife and sold or shelved. If you look closely it's actually a 2014.

I do believe that knife was in some sort of car accident. LOL i have 20$-30$ knives that aren't that bad off in the blade alignment.
Send it back.
