...

I'm surprised someone even assembled that knife at the factory with the etching looking like that.

Or allowed the centering to be that far off. Are you kidding me?

Someone should have some 'splanin to do...or be fired, plain and simple. I cannot believe Ernie would not be pissed. How could all of that even happen?

The etching doesn't come off like that unless the knife was used. That's why it's unusual. Trust me, I have my concerns on this one. I honestly don't believe that knife left the factory that way.

Its me or we've got in the past weeks some messages from users who bought at BladeHQ Emerson Knives with faults? IIRC, even a knife with stripped screws!

I've heard far too many bad things about quality from BladeHQ.
I'd get a refund and buy from dealer.

I will agree with you 110%.

I'm thinking it was a perfectly good DEFECT that BLADEHQ bought at a discount price and resold.
Or, it was a USED blade that BLADEHQ sold.
A lot of shady business with them the past few years.

EKI doesn't let defects get out the door. They are destroyed. I'm not going to play the blame game or throw anyone under the bus. All we can do is make it right. Who knows what happened really but it's suspect for sure.

I would hope the Knife Police at EKI would investigate this knife to see what really happened. I would assume the Serial # would be the place to start.

Reading some of Mr. Emerson's post, and viewing a couple of tubes he is in. I get the impression he don't put his name on what I will call marginal stuff.

Agree I agree 110%.

This has not been my experience with BladeHQ. I've purchased quite a bit from them in the past, with nothing but positive experiences. That being said, I've found other places that I prefer because they are cheaper and closer to me, so I have not purchased from BladeHQ in over a year.

At this point, all anyone can do is speculate. There are two things that are certain, one is the knife is not in an acceptable condition, and two is that the OP has had a terrible first experience. Whether the fault lies with Emerson or BladeHQ, it's unlikely something we'll ever know for sure.

One of the companies will fix the issue. EmersonREP has appropriately already offered help.

All in all, I'm disappointed. The blade is very gritty and stiff, and the lock is sticky. I will be sending this one back.

That would be disappointing- I wish that had been caught prior to shipping. It sounds like Emerson's got you covered but if we can be of any assistance please let us know. We would have been (and still are) happy to swap you or refund you- we try and always have the customer's back.

I give my +1 to BladeHQ. They are 1 county south of me and are always a pleasure online and in-person.

The quality level on this knife is what I would expect from a $20-$30 knife, not $150.

I've sent back several Emerson knives for a refund because of spotty quality control, but none as bad as what you got. I wouldn't be so quick to blame your issue on Emerson though...

We will fix everything that it needs if not replace it completely. If you can also send the receipt from Blade HQ showing that you purchased the knife from them recently. We will also cover the shipping. Fill out the form on our website. Thank You and sorry about that knife. I'd be pissed too.

Wow, way to get involved and make this right.

Seriously?

Systems should be analyzed, people should be trained, but firing someone over a bad knife is a bit too far.

I agree that the knife was probably used. I'd also bet that it was returned to BHQ and put back on the shelf then resold to the OP.

This thread is an awesome example of businesses taking care of their customers. Kudos to EmersonREP and BladeHQ for jumping on it so quickly.

I now feel even more confident buying Emerson and using BladeHQ's incredible store. Top notch, classy, and extremely profesional. Thank you EmersonRep and BladeHQ.

Man that's alright.
You have the retailer AND the manufacturer looking out for you!

It sucks you received a knife that was shot out of a cannon instead of dropped off via USPS but good you are being taken care of.
