12" AK Villager

My triangle box arrived and contained a nice 12" by Kumar. I had forgotten that they were signing in devanargari. i like that. I'll let Hog give you the take on it when he gets home tomorrow.

got mine, Kumar. I am stripping the existing "finish" on it off and am gonna do something else with it. I just dont know what yet...

These make great little Kustomizable Khukuris.

Going to press mine into service "as is", and let use/wear do the "Kustomizing";)

Sarge

So far all by Kumar, good to go far as I'm concerned, he and his brother both make comfortable handles and good stout blades

Mines here, too. About 12 1/2 inches. Very nice knife. Feels as good as any of the blades I've gotten from HI (and there are an embarrassing number).

Surprisingly, some serious rusting on the blade. First time I've seen that. They must have missed a big spot when oiling. That's the nice thing about not having a mirror finish: 2 minutes of fine-grit sandpaper, and it'll be better than new.

Looking forward to playing with this baby. Jim will love his, too.

you have a Shankar 12in AK too, don't you? Could you compare the new villagers to that? Thanks.

Will do Kis, got my Shanker, and somewhere in a footlocker, that's in a truck, that's in the hold of a ship, is my old Sher 12" AK that was my EDC knife over yonder.;)

Mine arrived today as well. I like it! It's a very handy size. It seems to me that it'll make a great "camp" knife.

Thanks Sarge for gettin this project started and thanks Uncle Bill for getting them made.

Mike

yEAH,"CAMP KNIFE" for GIRL SCOUTS!:barf:Mike, send it back,Uncle will take it & sell it to some.....anyway"HE WILL SEND YOU A REAL K"!!:D

THE SAINT!

I'm glad everyone seems to be pleased with the little villagers (except you know who of course). What do I think of 'em? Don't know, mine hasn't turned up yet. Hope they turn up tomorrow before I roll out of town so I can cheap out and save a buck or two on the one that I absolutely must send on down to south Florida. I'll know it got there alright when the evening news reports subterranean tremors in the Miami area. Imagine, if you will, a Gollum-like voice shrieking from the cave; "Noooooo, nasty Barfmeister torments us, sends us ugly little knife, mus'nt touch it, mus'nt, mus'nt, ugly little knife will make us unmanlies, wimmins will laugh at us, oh wicked, wicked Barfmeister, take away ugly little knife, it burns, it burns......" (or something like that)

hahahah, think you got it down just right there sarge. :)

Don't think Iposted before, so will say that I got mine here. Didn't check how convex the edge is, but it is a Kumar. Rather dull, but will take that dwon on belt grinder while I check to make sure it's well convex and sure it will be more than sharp enough. Three rust spots on mine too, but it's getting a scotchbrite satin finish after I convex it anwyays, so that rust will quickly be gone.

THink this is my new favorite, more useful all around size than my 15" AKs(no matter what the duck says ;) ). Plus don't feel as bad using this one(hoping I"ll feel bad using the AKs after I pretty them up with new handles).

Well done Sarge!:)

Pappy, take 2 scotches and post us in the morning.

Hmm, scotch sounds good right about now...

Bill Clinton would never carry a Khukuri of any size ...don't get me started !

Sarge...you know what happens to Gollum :D! Can you say roasted Duck heh, heh, heh.

PREAMBLE

GENERAL PROVISIONS

BIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MUSCOVY DUCKS AND HYBRIDS OF MUSCOVY AND DOMESTIC DUCKS

STOCKMANSHIP AND INSPECTION

KILLING

Article 23

1. If ducks are ill or injured to such an extent that treatment is no longer feasible and transport would cause additional suffering, they must be killed on the spot. This must be done without causing undue pain, agitation or other forms of distress and without delay by a person properly trained and experienced in the techniques of killing unless in emergency when such a person is not immediately available.

2. The methods used shall either:

a. cause immediate loss of consciousness and death, or
b. rapidly render the duck insensible to pain and distress, until death supervenes, or
c. cause the death of an duck which is anaesthetised or effectively stunned.

Drowning and suffocation shall not be permitted. As ducks are not as susceptible to carbon dioxide as certain other birds, the use of carbon dioxide shall be avoided.

3. The person responsible for the killing shall ensure that for each duck the requirements of paragraph 2 are fulfilled and that the duck is dead

Now look here, y'all are getting just a bit morbid ain't ya? Roasted Duck, euthanasia, lord have mercy. Much as I love to tease that foul (fowl?) "Durba monger", I'd kinda like to keep him around, there's more to him than some folks know. Still, he did compare me to Bill Clinton didn't he? Just shows he knows how to fling a proper insult (doesn't show that he knows much else, hee)

This is a nice knife and I will keep it around for a little while before deciding whether or not to send it on
to my brother. It slices well. It’s comfortable for food prep, especially if you work close to the edge of the counter where your hand can be below the level of the cutting surface. Very comfortable this way. I also like the angle and point position if you were to need to thrust into something with it. It will chop (within reason; not in the Trailmaster class but better than a Kabar/Bushranger) , just takes more whacks or a better chopper than me (I claim no expertise here) to catch up with it’s bigger brother.

So, how does it compare with a Penknife in terms of chopping?

Hibuke,
BWAAAAAA!How does it compare, ought to be about the same,BOTH are good for,TOENAILS!:D At last, a man not brainwashed by the PIED PIPER OF ...:barf:!!
