12+inch blade, .3 in thick

If you want a blade to beat on S7 works!

I've chopped through aluminum poles, sheet metal, dirty logs and the edge holds up pretty good.

Of course it is ground to a fairly obtuse convex but it still cleanly cuts bottles and cardboard .... small to medium branches are no problem.

I've had a lot of fun with it and as you can see the kids like the fun too. :p

The water bottle video was after the sheet metal in the picture and the poles.

Just touched it up on some 600 grit and that's it.

I had Tad Lynch forge me a custom from 52100. Mine has a 10 inch blade and is over 3/8 inch thick near the handle. He would make one with a longer blade I'm sure.

Yeah, that is one of my dream knives. To bad it is very hard to come by, and when you can at a high price.

I did not mention that I was probably going with Jim Baker because I wanted to see if there was anybody else. I like Jim's style and he responds to emails very well. I have plenty of time to think and plan about this one so I am getting as much input as possible. Thanks

Missed this post.

Stick around and keep this thread going an you will come up with some amazing stuff. The knowledge here is incredible.

Aren't some of the kukri's, offered by Himayain Imports, in that range of thickness? If it's a chopper you want you could d a lot worse than a kukri!:)

Busse or Horton are definately a good place to start. But Siegle is another option. I've seen some pretty cool choppers around here that he's made.

Contact forum member Marcus Lin. He can make you a big knife here is one he made for me, to my drawing. .250 thick, 2 1/2 wide, 10 inches long,5160 steel. He does excellent work at a very fair price.

I have that knife saved to my "big knives" folder. Sweet knife, very similar to my "ideal" knife. If anybody has any pictures feel free to post them, I would love to see them.

As far as Kukri's go, I am not a big fan of the looks, although I don't doubt they chop like nobodies business. When it comes t large blades I am a fan of mostly straight. Thanks

plus on for Justin, he had this beast done in 2 weeks and it came with a 7 inch companion knife. 15 inch blade and a beast

12" and thick huh.

Chitlangi Bowies come to mind from our own Yangdu and Himalayan Imports.

I just got a Gurkha Kukri, old school in Carbon V that is 12" and at least .3.

Justin Gingrich (Ranger) .... anything you want.

I guarantee he is the fastest to get it to your door ... with a lifetime warranty.

He had this ready for me in less that two weeks .... S7, .25, 11" blade, 16.5" OAL

He squeezed it in right before he was coming to Ca. and delivered it ! lol

He's the man !
