12+inch blade, .3 in thick

Echobelly: I was wondering the same thing, just forgot to post. Somebody want to enlighten us?

ZZ: Sorry, I don't like kukri's, at least for now ;).

its been a while since I have emailed him, but justingingrich@hotmail.com should be good to go. I have ordered many knives from him and he has always been great to deal with, and the knives speak for themselves.

That is the current E-mail BA ... Thanks bro!

BTW I got an E-mail from Justin today and he is traveling to Virginia today for a hunting trip and Thanksgiving with friends. If anyone does E-mail him be patient ... it might take him a few days to respond.

Just kidding, hopefully you never do get bit by the bent knife bug, but if you do

The Ranger Knives website is very outdated and the contact email on that webpage is no longer active to my understanding. Just a heads up to anyone considering contacting him.

Thanks for the contact details.
I was watching the youtube video...amazing.

I think I might need an apocalyptic knife as I'm in S.Korea at the moment!! ha

I think I will survive. I have a well stocked refrigerator full of Kimchi.

I seem to have a longing for big knives at the moment. I'm especially have after a decent big bowie. The monster you posted earlier looks like a real beast of a working knife. I'm very jealous.

Mrs. Stainz, aka Mrs. Santa, has my new this year Benchmade 171 'BladeSports' Chopper hidden away somewhere. I think the .3" thick M4 blade is 9-10 inches long - a Wharncliffe on serious steroids. MSRP $350 - street price $249 or less... and available. The Kydex sheath is not a belt mount, for sure.

after the Ranger Knives website changed into a link to Ontario dealers, i tried his old email address to see if it was still active (the one that was on the site before it changed). he responded and said it was still a good way to contact him. it's not the same one listed here, maybe he has a couple, it's justin@rangerknives.com it worked about 1 month ago.

i know there's a ton of good knife makers, out there, but Justin is the first guy i'd check with if i was in need of a custom :)

andy540: I have already talked to Jim Baker, I am considering him. Thanks for the tip ;)

Anybody have experience with Jon @ sharpdecision?

I can't believe I missed this,

if you want something that big, try a Busse MOAB or a Gladius :D

If only I had the $$, if only... Its crazy how much Busse's cost, especially for a production knife. It is going to be cheaper to get a blade made to my exact likes and desires than buy a Busse. I just don't have that kind of cash for a production knife at the moment. Who knows, in the future I might be able to pick one up, but for the next year to two, no.

If it hasn't been mentioned, you might want to look into the TOPS Power Eagle 12. I'd pick one up if I had the bills! Sweet blade shape and a great steel.

I've been looking at the TOPS Power Eagle. They don't list the hardness, it's a full flat grind. I have an Ontario Kukri, it's full flat grind makes it light. It feel lighter than the Ka-Bar kukri, which is thinner.
I don't care for the large eagle on the blade either, nor the cordura sheath.
May be a decent blade, I've seen them for $180+shipping.

I've ordered a 3/16" thick Bolok from Bruce Culberson. It's 12" blade is forged 5160.
I'm hoping it's tough and fast. I like Sarge666's big ol S7 blade, but I'm thinking it would be too heavy for me. Depends on what I'm chopping I guess.
