This Friday morning at 1 oclock in the morning my father in law and I took out for a journey to Leslie,MO to get my old but new to me power hammer. Driving thru the middle of st louis,MO with a 16ft trailor was no fun! The whole trip took 26 hours,Its birthday is May 13, 1943, its also a war hammer made for use in WW2 from what the nice people at littlegiant tell me.The pervious owner told me he hadnt plugged it up for 15 years, and the owner before him for 10 years or so. Me and Roger got it home and after oiling it up we plugged it up and she came to life, amazing something set up for that long in a barn and still run! I also got to say if it wasnt for the man beside me in the picture I wouldnt have ever been able to get it,He drove half the way and let me use his truck and trailor, Im very lucky to have wonderful in laws that treat me just like their son:) also check out the 200lbs Hay Budden I bought off the guy!

Charlie, congratulations on your new Little Giant! Once you get that up and running well, it will be smooth sailing for you. And, you even snuck out of Missouri with a nice Hay Budden. Good for you!

That's a BEAUTIFUL hammer !! And in great shape !!

Very, very cool it has what looks to be OEM motor/belt/pulley set-up, and even more cool is the fact that it works

Good for you Charlie - I'm very happy for you :)

Awesome stuff Charlie!

That's a new style 25# for those that are curious.

Looks to be in EXCELLENT shape. It's rare to see one without some kind of repair work done, i.e. a welded toggle link, funky dies, etc.

Looks like you could wire cup brush this bad boy, paint it green and it would look brand new.

I'm happy for you bud :D

Thank all you guys very much! Im so happy and excited! The fellow I bought it from said after years of it setting around he was ready to move it to someone who would use it, I guarantee Im gonna take good care of her and put her to work:thumbup:

like you i have a father in law who treats me like a son, so its nice reading a story like this! great score on the equipment! both look like great user pieces, hope to find something just as good when i get back to the US.

I was thinking about giving you a call to see if you had picked it up yet. Congrats on getting it home safe.:) Nice score with the Hay Budden! I bet you had a big silly grin on your face the whole 1300 miles, I know I would have.

Congratulations Charlie, Be sure and show off some work or do a work in progress on the restoration, like Nick said, it appears as if it would look new when brushed and painted.
Nice Score,
Jim

Congratulation Charlie, another nice little giant post in one weekend. I'm sure it will bring you years of pleasure. On a side note don't paint it green though, the new style hammers like you have were all painted grey, but I bet purple would look nice also. Be careful of those factory motor mounts. I had one on my 100#er when I got it and when I started taking it a part I loosened the motor mounts and it fell into a hundred parts. It's amazing that the whole motor mount is held together by a couple of bolts.

Have fun and happy pounding.

Nice score Charlie-man. Tell your Pa-in-law that there is a poor old guy in Oxford that needs adopting.;)

Beautiful old hammer. She's gonna make some amazing stuff, I just know it. It's a testament to our ingenuity that these old pieces of machinery last so long. Can't wait to see what you make with it.
