13th Annual Canadian Knifemaker Guild Show Review (80+ pics)

Awsome thread! Great pictures.

And to think, I almost went! The plans ended when my buddy bailed on me! :( Maybe next year.

That Lightfoot Hog Hunter is spectacular. I also really like the Derringer bowie. Brian Lyttle's work is always exceptional. as is Wolfgang Loerchner’s.

Thanks RL, this may well be the best report you have presented here, and that says a lot.

Great coverage RL. Antoine Marcal looks to have knives that really speak to me.

Thanks...here's another pic from the pre-show (his knives in the foreground).

I REALLY liked this piece...it was so light and fast (even with the long blade)...the wood sheath was cool too.

unfortunately the pic of his cool medieval forks and knives did not come out too well.

Thanks Robert. As usual, you really lay it on us. I appreciate this.

One fine Canadian maker no one mentioned was Gaetan Beauchamp. No presence?

thanks for this. the show was great and it looks like i missed a few things from the pics. I wonder how seeing i was there at 10am on sat.

Well done indeed RL. Such pics would actually be cruel if I didn't get the chance to go myself. I was disappointed to find Kirby almost sold out by the time I got there. The plus side was it mademy decision to go with a Lightfoot that much easier. Take care.

Those who are signed up as Friends of the Guild are able to attend the pre-show on Friday night and to enter the show at 9AM on Sat/Sun....I signed up this year ;)

Great review, RL!

I agree - that was probably one of the best Spring shows in the history of the Guild. Congratulations to all the Directors, knifemakers, collectors and other participants for making it such a success. It was encouraging to see so many new faces in the crowd - that is a very good sign!

Great review RL, and just like being there, which I was. I see Mr Wolfe is viewing as I write... you make great knives sir.

Thanks Andrew: I almost forgot to mention this. ;)

Yes, this was a particularly exciting show for me mainly because on Sunday, a few hours to closing, Wolfgang Loerchner stopped by to tell me that, after years of waiting, my dagger was going to be in the "on deck circle".

Wolf graciously suggested that we discuss some design elements that I might want him to incorporate. My answer was simple: "Please go ahead and do whatever you feel like doing." It is incomprehensible to me that this artist, whose work I revere, could produce a dagger for me that I would not be thrilled to call my own.
