Looking for a maker building 14c28n custom knives. Thinking EDC or maybe a unique lightweight hunter like a Canadian belt knife take.

Would want higher hardness than factory knives that are most often sub 60.

Thanks in advance.

Browse the makers section and see who is making something you like. I’m sure somebody can whip something up for you. Lots of excellent makers on here

I have some blades in 62 (closer to 63 actually) HRC 14C28N for sale. FBBO is around a 3" blade, 7 5/8" OAL roughly, sheath with the soft IWB loops, based off the Benchmade Bugout (a bit oversized, wider blade and handle), but as a fixed blade. MBBO are 2.5" edge, 6.75" OAL, pocket sheath with DCC clip, based off the mini bugout, but a bit oversized.

He's not here as much, but is extremely well known on BCUSA.

He specializes in Harder steels.
Treats his own. Cryo. Has Rockwell Tester. All blades are tested.

He pretty much only makes hunters and EDC.
Huge variety of steels, yet Loves 14c28n.

Wealth of knowledge.

I can absolutely craft this kind of knife for you, especially using high-hardness 14C28N steel. In my experience, while 14C28N has excellent overall performance, its main drawback in factory knives is often poorer edge retention due to lower production hardness. That’s why I bump the hardness of my 14C28N up to 61+ HRC. This ensures an incredibly keen edge and fantastic edge retention—and while there's a slight trade-off in toughness, it’s negligible since a small EDC/hunting knife isn't meant for heavy chopping anyway. I typically do a zero-edge initial grind, but I can also do a full convex grind if you prefer.

We offer a complete end-to-end workflow: from hand-drawn concepts, 3D CAD modeling, and 3D-printed prototyping all the way to the finished piece. If you have a blueprint or sketch, we can generate a full 3D model for you within 2 to 3 days. On top of that, we provide a wide variety of handle materials, ranging from various natural woods and animal bones to rare materials like mammoth ivory and mammoth molar—making every single piece truly one-of-a-kind.
