$150 and under best folder? No assisted opening or flippers please.

I'll take this opportunity to plug my two favorite EDC blades: The Benchmade 940 and Spyderco Caly 3.5. They are both excellent quality and pack a nice long blade in a slim format.

Military or PM2, if Military have you had the PM2?

I have both. The pm2 is great little knife. I just can't warm up to the compression lock. It snaps me in the webbing of my hand when I open it and I find it a bit awkward to close.

It's really hard to go wrong with any of the suggested Benchmades or Spyderco offerings, I have many of each but the knife that's getting most of my pocket time right now is the Hogue EX01 in black g-mascus. It is simply fantastic.

Sounds like you may be a slipjoint kind of guy?
Victorinox or Great Eastern Cutlery may be more your style?

Maybe I'm reading too much of the other thread on spyderco PM2 disappointment, but is it worth a chance to go for the PM2? Did yours arrive in great condition without any adjustments or did you have to send it back?

Mine came off centered but just by a hair, and it's an easy fix. I know the thread you're referencing, looks like to much tinkering for me. I would have just paid 5 bucks to send to Spyderco to fix.

This is a tough question so many good ones…Caly3,Benchmade 940,Techno,Benchmade ritter grip,Native 5…..

Chaparral :D or gayle bradley, or gayle bradley air, or pm2, or military, or caly3/3.5, or native 5

Well no definitive answer it is mostly just personal opinion but it gets narrowed down to about 10 knives by everyone usually. The Spyderco Paramilitary, and military both usually make the top along with the Benchmade 940.

Best for what?

Right now, all we're giving him is variations on "I own blah and like it" posts.

You can find a used ZT 550 for around $150. Nothing beats it, and I'm a lefty! Well, that is unless you have an unnatural aversion to frame locks, then you are just crazy.

I agree with an earlier post. The pm2 keeps finding its way into my pocket even though I have several knives in my edc rotation that I really like and intend to carry. One of the best all purpose knives made, regardless of price.

Sage 2. This was my gateway knife to a sebenza. Fit and finish is unreal. Tiitanium scales with reeve lock. (I think mine was about 150 a couple of hears ago?)

Edit: a Google search just confirmed the price point.

For that price (or under) I like :
BM 710
ZT 0550
Yojimbo2
Native5
707 Sequel

These knives vary greatly in size , weight and purpose. But I feel they are all great examples.

I'm moving next month and the two knives I'm not putting in storage are the Benchmade Axis Bone Collector with the walnut handles which IMO is very beautiful yet useful for all around, (it's just kinds fat in the pocket) and my Cold Steel Recon 1 tanto (The discontinued one with the axis lock which opens with a thumb disk) I love it and it's still and always will be a better/cooler design than the new one IMHO. You can find those used on eBay pretty cheap but they start getting pricey if you want a new one because they're RARE to find unused!
