$175 in knife money. How would you spend it?

Boker Plus Caracal Folder $76ish + Spyderco Manix 2 S30V (BD-1 if I had too) $90-100.

I have the pattada, but haven't had it very long, and I love it, and a couple knives are above $175, but I'm considering the fact that they can be gotten for $175 or cheaper when bought secondhand.

- Cold Steel Large Espada CTS-XHP w/ G10 handles
- Lionsteel Kur
- Lionsteel TRE G10
- Spyderco Pattada
- Spyderco Techno
- Spyderco Domino CTS-204p w/ blue G10 scale (Bento box exclusive)
- Spyderco Manix 2 Cruwear w/ Carbon Fiber handles (Knifecenter exclusive)
- Benchmade 485 Valet
- Kizer Gemini Ti

For me, the RickNowland EDC fixed blade offered by VCM blades in 154cpm. They were available as part of his Christmas specials. Or a Childress necker or hunter and finally if he cannot decide what to buy, he can donate it and send it to one of us so we can get one of the things in our Christmas list. :D

Buy a gold membership to support the forum. Then go get a nice red bone Case stockman off of the bay.

For me that would be the perfect amount for a Manix 2 in Maxamet.
Or maybe a real nice BRK Gunny.

I'd put it toward a Protech Magic BR-1. Just a cool little knife and you can't beat Protech quality.

If I had to come in under $175 shipped I'd probably get a new Benchmade 531BK.

I would add $320 and get an Olamic Wayfarer 247 that I covet. (Wait, that's not how this game is played - my bad).

if i had only $175 i would save it until it was around $250-$380 and buy something really nice, especially if you dont have anything in that range.

the problem these days is, people dont know what saving money is.

You won't find a better built knife on the market with those materials. It's a true bargain. Even the standard nylon / AUS-8 versions are fantastic.

I'd say save the rest of the money for the time being and see how you like the knife and its features. It will drive your next decision on what to buy.

That's a thing I had in mind too, couldn't let the year end without it!

I'm digging on the BM Crooked River, at the moment. Just not sure if I want the wood or G10 handles. A close second (though I'd have to buy one used, or throw in some cash) would be the ZT 0562CF. It's been on the top of my short list for a few years now.

But in reality, I'd probably pick up one of the last 2016 BFC Traditional GEC knives before they're gone. I'd use the rest of the money to get a nice bottle of Scotch.
