184 Buckmaster Non Owners Club!

M9 i think falls in that category thought not sure if it actually can mount to a rifle.
This is an M - 9 Bayonet it was used in Vietnam. It actually mounts to a rifle. It was a Buck/ Phrobis compilation.
The M-9 will mount to ARs that have a lug in combination with a standard 16 or 14 inch barrel with correct flash hider.
Here's mine mount on a Colt's SP-1

Yes excellent info and history.
I have an M4 (issue for wwII M1carbine and i think M6 for the M16 rifle. All military issue. Was the M9 under military contract at Buck?

At the beginning, I believe so. Not sure who has it now.
Buck was first, see pic below.
Second was Lan-Cay (with the first 300 blades made by General Cutlery)
Then the contract was split between Ontario and LanCay.
With LanCay's demise, Ontario became the sole provider until Tri-Tech produced around 14000(?) in 2012.
I don't know if Tri Tech are still making them, Ontario is though and continues to this day.

These are all Buck made US Army issue, made between 1987-89.
From left to right:- Gen 1,Gen 2, Gen 3 and all five variations of the Gen 4.

I once owned most of the variations of the Buckmaster (and the M9 Bayonets), part of an inheritance from my late great uncle.
I did use one for a while but hated it. Too heavy and unbalanced.
Knurled handle was like a cheese grater on wet hands.
Thick blade with low grind was not best at slicing.
Saw took too much effort to use and didn't cut well.
Serrations were okay but poorly placed.
Scabbard was overbuilt, but knife tended to tip over unless tied to your leg.
Read an article by Wayne Goddard (I think) years ago on the Buckmaster, his conclusions mirrored my experience with this knife.
I hope Buck don't resurrect this knife.
Instead put time into training up more people to keep the quality up on existing products.
Also to make more 124's!

I think an offshoot club is beginning to form.
“BUCK M9 Non Owners Club” lol
I think the M9 is a worthy collectable and apart from the muzzle loop is a much more practical blade. I can think of a countless number of uses for that wire cutting option! Can’t you?

Here are a couple of links that y'all might find interesting. These models have discussed and shown before but not lately...
here are my reasons for not being in the club...
