Well it has been a little while since I picked up this 1911. I thank you all again for leading me to Les Baer:thumbup: I don't think I could have asked for a better pistol for my needs.

I went to the range yesterday and put 200 rounds through it. This gun is a shooter and dead on:cool: I was thinking of picking up another 1911 when I decided to start shooting this one again. What an awesome piece of craftsmanship.

I will not be getting a new pistol anytime soon:D Just wanted to update because you all helped me find this one. I have put well over 1000 rounds through it with flawless performance. I can't ask for more than that.

What are you all taking to the range these days? What is your favorite pistol to shoot and why if you don't mind me asking? Even though I don't plan to buy a new pistol I have been thinking about a full size hard chrome SRP...any thoughts? Oh, and pics are more than welcome:)

Les Baer makes excellent 1911s. I own two of them myself. I also own five Ed Brown 1911s, and my favorite is the Special Forces Carry with bare slide:

Here is one of my Les Baer 1911, a Thunder Ranch "Commanche" Special (the hard chrome finish is standard) wearing AlumaGrips with the Thunder Ranch logo:

I haven't taken anything out lately.

Previously it had been the G19 or the G26. 9mm is a bit less expensive and those also make a nice carry combo.

My favorite pistol to shoot is my HK USP tac. I like the accuracy and the way it runs. The ATF should approve my permission slip next month. I've got an AAC Evo can waiting for me at the shop. Soon, I should be shooting some .45 again.

Nice Les Baer BTW. I've owned a couple of 1911s but nothing custom.

Hopefully down the road I'll pick one up.

Kimbers! I have a full size Team Match II and a Kimber Ultra Crimsom Carry II for everyday carry.

I also bought the 22 slide to save money on ammo. It has paid for itself many times over.

Thanks Ken! When I am shopping for Busse, Randall and pistols I frequent your website. It is almost as good as seeing them in person! I was thinking the TR after talking to you. The forged steel with hard chrome is very attractive. I like your Ed Brown but am not sure how I feel about the "roundness" of his pistols? I think I would need to hold one to be sure. Thanks again!

I still have an itch for an HK also:thumbup:

My buddy shoots Kimber and really likes his.

Very hard to beat an out of the box Kimber. I DO have a Les Baer bullseye gun that will shoot < 2" @ 50 yards out of a Ransom rest. VERY tight piece. Actually a little difficult to take apart. Unlike many other custom 1911's, has never jammed once. Incredible combination of reliability and accuracy.

Thanks Uncle.

My LB was tight until I shot it over 1000 times and took it apart a few times. Now it comes apart and goes together with ease and precision:thumbup:

Aren't there a lot of options when ordering an HK? Seems confusing!

There are a lot of variants, but most options are standard.

The USP and newer HK45 are DA/SA with an external safety standard. You could get the LEM trigger option, DAO or other IMHO - silly stuff. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

The grip angle and safety location is the same if not close to the 1911. The only thing to get used to is the different trigger and the slightly higher bore axis.

If I were really going to go all out, I'd pick up a Mark 23 with a can. A little expensive and big to carry, but probably hella-fun to shoot. :p

I miss my 1911. :(:grumpy:

It was a 5 digit serial number military that I have customised.

It was a 1911, not a 1911 A1. ;)

I take my commanders out at least once a month. Of the two I have (1 Colt and one DW CBOB)I like the bobtail better, but I do love the feel of a 1911!

My first pistols were Sigs - But since I got my first 1911 (Ed Brown Kobra Carry), most of the time I go to the range, I take my 1911s. The only exception is my Sig X5, which shoots like a dream, but still not close the the 1911s.

Have been considering getting another Ed Brown, and Lunde's picture has me pretty much decided on what I want :-)

I like my Kimber Elite Carry, it's an original from the custom shop, not a gen II gun.
