1911

I agree UDDwaine. I would love one of these. It takes out most of the "ED BROWN" that is usually crapped up all over the place on the EB 1911's. IMO I don't want the man's name on my pistol 32 times:foot:

Lunde's is a perfect example of an EB that I would want though:) Nice and clean.

I have a Para Ordnance SSP .45 and my new favorite "fun Gun" a Yankee Hill Machine AR-15 with an AR-57 Upper which uses FN P90 50rd mags and shoots 5.7 x 28mm cartridges. With magpul FDE grip, Stock, sights and tapco stubby vertical grip. Also have the prerequisite Ruger 10/22 with 30 rd mags for cheap fun.

What exactly is the difference again? I am not a 1911 expert by any means. Thanks:)

A1 added the arched mainspring (vice flat), short trigger, and the half-moon cuts at the trigger guard. All done to accommodate a smaller hand and make the fit more universal. I seem to remember that there was a modification to the hammer as well, but that was more of a cost cutting measure. This picture shows a change to the grip safety tang, but I'm not sure if that is a 1911A1 modification or just a more modern iteration.

Thanks a lot for the explanation! I was thinking it had to do more with internal differences. Shows you how much I know:)

I was also under the impression that there are even more variations between previous and current 1911's (especially from maker to maker). Again, shows you how much I know:)

I appreciate you taking the time to clarify this for me:thumbup:

So what would be the preferred model?

Yep that was it. :)

Mine was made in 1918, it broke my heart to sell it. :)

Yeah, I would be pretty upset to let something like that go also:mad:

Yeah it did. :(

The only reason I had mine worked on is because some idiot had it coated... So it lost any collector value at that point.

I just had a memory from when I was into Colts and had a lot of work done on one. Wasn't there a difference between a 70 series and 80 series that had to do with the firing system?

I may be way off. It has been a while. Would these both be considered a 1911A1 or some other variation?

Sorry for all the questions. I can't help but ask them when I am talking to knowledgeable people on the subject.

For information regarding the difference between series 70 and 80 guns refer to link below.

When ordering an Ed Brown 1911, keep in mind that the "bare slide" option is a no-cost option.

That answered just about all of my questions. I wish I would have come across it before! Thanks!

So that tells me a Colt CC with 70 serial number is not really a "70 series gun" because of the solid bushing it retains. That is good to know:D

Thanks Ken:thumbup: I think if and when I get another it will be an Ed Brown like the one you have pictured.

If you don't like or want the Bobtail, you can order it without that, too.

I don't have any with a Bobtail so it might be a nice change. That is unless there is a downfall to them?

I see only benefits from having the Bobtail, which explains why six of my 1911s have this, five of which are Ed Browns. Of these six, two are full size (Government).

Sold! Thanks again Lunde:thumbup:

Now to start saving after these two Busse BM's hit my CC:eek::D
