Dan, you can put my name in the hat so long as it does not have to be soon. I can throw it in on my next batch. Completion sometime late Winter to early Spring (?).

Please advise and I, unless told otherwise, presume such knife is for real duty purposes and therefore is to be designed and made for such.

RL

Thanks Roger
these are going to be a time thing anyway, as the wounded get awarded.
these are the guys that almost paid the ultimate and are down for the moment at least..welcome aboard..

Just wanted to say that I'm still planning on sending one. Like I said in my original post, I'm SLOW! I'll try to make some progress on it this week.

I wasn't trying to rush anyone but just motivating some :D

So, Dan is it to be of a commerative or a real field user. You're posting to my question makes me think it not so much a user but rather a deserved tribute. Either is fine of course. (fancy hunting knife or carried in the streets?) Please forgive my not taking, at this time, time to study the thread well enough to not have to ask.

Thanks Dan.

I think used as both..
some of these guys I believe
have even been sent back from state side after their injuries healed, to serve out the rest of their time. I have to think about lightening striking twice :( they sure got Balls going back out there again..and I for one would like to see them with something that will give them a bit more sense of security.. so I'm going tactical. but I'm sure they would enjoy anything.

maybe Todd will ring in to comment on this..

Alex and Terry:thumbup: :)

Below is a lousy picture of the knife I'll be sending to the Summit Battalion. I took two pictures then the batteries died, same old story. I'll get a better picture after I get the sheath made. I served in 1st Brigade, 10th Mountain for almost 4 years before coming to Fort Benning, so I'm happy to help out my old unit.

see if this helps Ryan nice blade

MAJ Whittemore,

Your knife looks great, and I'm sure the recipient will enjoy and appreciate it for years to come. I give the knives that I receive to Soldiers that have gone above and beyond the call of duty...Soldiers that have received valorous awards normally. I also make sure that they understand that they are receiving a piece of work from an individual has put a lot of their time, money and soul into. I'll let the Warriors in 3-6 FA know you said hello...stay the course, and I'll see you here.

V/R,
CSM Hibbs

Great news from the war front…I presented three knives today during our awards ceremony (it would have been four knives, but the Soldier that was going to receive the forth knife is currently on leave in the great United States of America). David Broadwell’s knife was the first knife presented…SPC Suchanek received this great knife for his heroic actions in combat. Just to give you a idea what he did to earn it…”SPC Suchanek selflessly treated Iraqi Policemen who were exposed to enemy fire and shielded them from future injury with his own body during a PRG and small arms attacks”. This is just one action. The second knife was awarded to SFC Carson…he received one of Steve Woods’ awesome blades for his actions. Another Soldier reacts selflessly under direct fire. SSG Compton received the third knife…another master piece from Steve Woods’ efforts. All of these Soldiers displayed selfless service under direct and indirect fire from the enemy…not once worrying about themselves. PFC Pickett will receive a great knife from Frank Dilluvio collection after he returns from leave next week…this knife he’s receiving is an awesome knife that has been awaiting a home for a longer period than it should have had to wait. Ken’s (Ken Wolfe) knife still waits for SSG Hall to return from the states…he’s struggling through recovery from his wounds received from a vehicle-borne IED. He said he’s ready to return, but the doctor is keeping him for a few more weeks…it will get to him, I guarantee that. I just received two knife this week…one from George Tichbourne, and another one from John Horrigan. Both of those knifes will find a home soon…two awards are awaiting approval now. These men appreciate it more that you’ll ever know…I appreciate what you guys are doing for them. It really does go a long ways to these men…they truly are Americas most valuable resource…I’m proud to be associated with them. We are up to six knifes awarded after he returns from leave…the first two were knives from Eddie Martin and Terry Newton. The first knife was a custom from Eddie Martin, and the second was a donated knife from Terry Newton. Thanks again for everyone’s support. Stay safe, and stay proud!

sorry to ressurect an old thread, but the standing request was to back out formally and not just vanish, so i'm formally backing out. much as i want to finish this project, i really don't have the wherewithall right now. i'm still gunna hang on to the blade and keep working on it, but it'll take me a while longer. when i finish it though, i'll do my best to ship it over to you or someone else who needs it.

CSM Hibbs, I want you and your boys to know that i really appreciate what ya'll are doing over there. I know for a fact that The Lord is on your side, and He is more powerful than any force you'll come in contact with. find a bible when you get the chance and read Isaiah chapter 54 verse 17, and chapter 40 verse 31. The prayers of nations are behind you guys, and all true Americans are immeasurably grateful for what you're doing and the sacrifice you've made. keep up the good work, kick their butts, and come home safe to us.
