Alright, after scoping out some sights, getting sponsors, and canonizing our resolve to do it, we're doing it.
When: Early May
Where: Not sure yet, but depending on who signs up, probably Ethan's Place.
Why: We LOVE knives and comradery, we plan to have lots of both
The Skinny of it All:
Last year, I held my first ever East Tenn Survivalist Gathering, to which Ethan was very involved in (much Thanks) and it was quite a success. I wanted to repeat it again this year, but we (Me and E) got to talking, and we wanted to do a Beckerhead Gathering instead.
So, are going ahead with this, and this is where we find out how many are coming, and all specifics will come from the info we gather here.
This will be a fun event, with some contests of skill, with knives as prizes. There will be booze and foul language, so, if you want to bring family, keep this in mind. We won't be going over board, but I like to drink and so do others, so, BYOB, and plan to drink in moderation, no baby sitters here.
Contests will be based on woodland skills, fire, shelter, traps, and making stuff, plan to learn, teach, and laff.
Most of the sites are limited in actual floorspace, so, hammock camping would be prefered, but we will have room for at least 5-6 tents.
Food, water, and amenities are what you can bring, catch and kill. I'll just say this, Ethan has no problem murdering game, but Susan says you can't kill the pets. Bear this in mind. I would go with dry pack food, as opposed to risking the wrath of Susan Becker. Ye be warned.
So, sign up, and please, please, please, if you don't think you will attend, don't sign up. Most of what we are doing is based on the number of people that will be coming. We want all of you there, and I do mean all of you, but regionally speaking, thats not gonna happen. This will be a 3 day event, FRI/SAT/SUN, and if you want to come, you are welcome to. The spot that I liked the most, is hell and back from nowhere, we will have to Gator in the supplies and equipment.
So, let us know what you are thinking, and after we get some information, more specifics will be coming out. Let us know if you have events or scheduling conflicts, and we will try to work out the best dates to accomodate everyone.
