  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Today something unusual is happening at Casa Murphy...... a Spyderco Persistence is being delivered. Not that a knife delivery has never happened, many times Kershaws, Benchmades, Microtechs, and a Strider has been brought by the dude in brown, but today a Spyderco arrives. I am so excited I can hardly stand myself. I am new to this forum, but have an extensive background in, let's say, edc knives. I am a retired police officer of many years. I carried all of the above knives, somewhere tucked away on my person, and never worried about price verses quality. Well retirement means no more autos and it also means a budget! It was so much easier explaining a $500.00 knife purchase as "needed duty equipment". After all honey you want me to be safe... dontcha? Now I research to find the best bang for my buck. I have been edc a Kershaw cryo 1555ti and have to admit I really dig it except it is a little heavy. So a friend, also retired LEO, recommended the Persistence. I did my research and could not find a flaw for the money. After today, I'm afraid all will change and I will be lurking round here explaining why I need more Spydies. I have a feeling I'm screwed. If any of you have any recommendations, I think I'm already looking for my next, even before the first has seen my hand.

Damn I'm still waiting. Maybe I'll call a buddy on duty and have him start traffic stopping all ups vans until he finds mine and tell him citation or knife. Lol I want him to come a knocking. This is insane, I am really excited, like a kid. 😲

The Tenacious (smaller version of the Persistence) was my first, and it was a great knife. However, the Paramilitary 2 and Military are both in another world. I won't part with either one.

Congrats.

Benchmade's for years. New to the Spyders myself. Recieved my third this morning from the post box. GB Folder..(.cant help posting this all over. lol)

Welcome to the maddness.

Whoops then I ordered the wrong one. I thought the persistence was the smaller of the the two. Maybe Amazon.com had the wrong stats? Help confirm anyone between tenacious and persistence, which is the smaller? 🔪

Oh no... You're right. When I read Persistence, I was thinking Resilience. I'm sorry. That line has 4 sizes, smallest to largest... Ambitious, Persistence, Tenacious, Resilience. Again... sorry for the confusion!

I'm a newby, myself. My favorite is the Para Military 2. If you check it out, you'll see that this is one heck of an EDC knife. I've already bought a few here on the Exchange, which often is the best price. I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you choose. It's a Spyderco, right? The Spyderco Forum has so many knowledgeable people willing to share their hard fought knowledge, that just by reading all the threads, you'll figure out what's right for you. That's what I'm doing, anyway.

Congrats man how bout a review after you've loved on it for a while. Would love to hear, I think I'm already in the market for a new one. God I just retired and need another job to support this new addiction!

Ok panic gone excitement returned. Still no damn ups. If this is going to be my new habit, which it will, me and my ups guy are going to have "a come to Jesus meeting" on delivery times. Lol

Wohoo it's here. Let me play and I'll post my impressions. Good I don't have to kill my UPS guy. Lol

This little beauty is a home run. Changed the pocket clip to tip up carry and slightly tightened the pivot screw to center the blade and give me a little more resistance. Cryo has been drawered until further notice. Really like the lock-up and the weight. That whole hole opening thing is cool. Me likey so far.

I am terribly, love that damn hole. Opens like butter. I like the smaller knives. I was kinda digging the dragon fly I think it was called and the Chicago. I like smaller blades. Any suggestions I have about $100 I think I can secretly funnel towards my new hobby

You should check out the delica 4. Very good knife for a cheap price, lightweight and very reliable. Same thing goes for the manix 2 lightweight.

Go straight for the good stuff! Caly 3 or 3.5, pm2, manix! I missed your comments dfly is a bit small for me.

My regular go to the store round the house knife is a Delica. I couldn't imagine a collection without one. I'm also enamored with my ukpk slipit! I had the ambitious but it came gritty from the factory.

Right on. I for sure will. Dont imagine it will be much different than most of the reviews I've watched and read.

Oh, if your not aware, you can watch and read a whole lot of review/impression vids and articals on the web of a whatever particular you may be hot for at the moment. Youtube for one. Some good, some not so much. ..Careful however, they can sometimes ease and sometimes fuel the addiction.

After fondeling the GB for they day, I state w/ full confidence.....Get one, man. You wont regret this blade. Best bang for the loot for me in long time.
