1st Spydie ever

I guess my concern is if they are sturdy. Some of the older cheaper pin knives became sloppy. I haven't owned a pinned knife since.

That's funny, when I think of pinned knives, the first thing that comes to mind for me is the good old reliable SAK, go figure :)

I don't think you will have any issues. Some people have noted some minor QC concerns, grit, etc... but that is bound to happen from time to time on any production blade. Also, some have noted up and down blade play, but i think this is just b/c if you push hard enough on most back locks you can force the lock bar to move a tiny bit. Never noticed any play on mine in use and I'm not going to go looking for it otherwise. That said, newer model back locks like the Native 5 and Chaparral appear to be more refined and have tighter tolerances. Given the choice, I'm still grabbing the Caly most of the time though...

To fuel your interest, Bradley folder (used to be Gayle Bradley) is not only beautiful and a show piece, it's super smooth compared to my Resilience (big brother of Persistence) and buld like a tank!

Not to mention it's a workhorse:

If you like small blade, the Air is of the same steel and handle (CF) but with titanium liner! Light, gentlemanly and still a cardboard eater!

Welcome to the club!

Thanks bro bust out another hundred time. Lol I am hooked. Loving my Persistence and waiting........ on my Caly 3.5

I am also new to the Spyderco Family. I just picked this a week ago. Spyderco Millie Digi Camo

Much to my wife's dismay, this knife made me a Spyderco fan for life. "Your first Spyderco will not be your last", are words I have been hearing since buying my first. Welcome to your new money pit!

Beautiful knife, absolutely dig the camo . I am holding my persistence and am stunned at the quality. I await my Caly 3.5, next Tuesday. I can't wait. I wish I could figure out how to post pics. I'm like a proud father. And yes my wife is flustered also.🔪

I use photobucket to post the pics. Its a free account and you just post a link to your picture on photobucket.

Open up a free photo bucket account. When you upload a pic there is a spot on the right hand side that allows you to copy the link you then paste that link right in your bf post.

I really like the pm2 but am getting conflicting messages about its size. I had an Endura for a spell and traded it out as I didn't think I would edc a blade that big. It would stand to reason that the pm2 would be too big to edc as well?

I am currently carrying a Quartermaster QTR8, this thing is 12.5oz and has a 4 inch blade. The PM2 is small compared to that and I carry this in my rotation. The PM2 is just a smaller version of the Military and I carry that in my rotation as well. It all depends on what you want in your pocket. Personally my Sebbie 25 is my smallest knife in my edc rotation. I think the PM2 is a good size for edc, it's light and has a great blade shape. You would not be disappointed with the PM2. My Millie almost disappears in my pocket.

The largest knife I ever carried was the Microtech SOCOM automatic. I carried it in my vest's trauma plate pocket. It was long, bulky, and wide, but nasty upon deployment. I switched to a Strider SNG for my vest carry. Much more comfortable. I have long since shyed away from over priced folders upon retirement. I love my new Persistence, it has replaced my cryo as my edc and as soon as the Caly 3.5 is delivered, I'm pretty sure I am going to have a front pocket change again. Thanks for all the advice as I am a newbie to Spyderco knives. This is way too much fun

You HAVE to get a Paramilitary 2 next time. You won't be disappointed.

You should make a YT channel and post your unboxing of the Caly and put it on this forum.

Love the knife I'm looking at the pm2 and getting the skinny on it it was also recommended by another member. As far as the unboxing I'm still trying to figure out how to upload pics. Lol. I am so fairly tech savvy, but I am also the one who threw a fit rehearsal ago when they put a computer in my cruiser and went to "silent" dispatching (it came across the computer instead of the radio). Come to think of it, I think that's why I retired. 🔫🔪💣

I know already looking at a PM2. As far as posting a video, I am the Sargent who threw a fit when they put a computer in my cruiser. Screwed me up so badly, I had to retire😂

I'm too lazy to make a photobucket account so far, so I just use tinypic (.com.) You don't even need an account. Browse for the file, upload at the "message board" or forum size, then copy/paste the forum link that's provided into your post. Simple :)

Here's a quick comparison pic:

Lol, that's a carbon fiber Para2 on top, then a gray Caly 3.5.

Finally, my first Spydie, the blue Persistence ;) (I moved the clip on it for leftie carry.)

I think my next endeavor is either the Sage or Manix 2. I have been lurking around different outlets studying my next conquest. I am going to give it a bit to appease the boss. She is okay with the habit, that is until she gets the credit card bill. Oh well in the immortal words of Charlotte O'Hara "after all tomorrow is another day."

Just so you know the Sage series are very cool knives I had the Sage 2 in Ti. But I couldn't get on with it. It doesn't quite have the same natural ergos as regular Spydies. They're real lookers though!
