I have to go to Chicago soon. Their knife laws only allow knives with blades of 2.5 inches or less. Ugh Spyderco Dragonfly 2 or something else?

My current favorite in that size is the 15v Lil' Native backlock.

Spyderco Urban
Production Model (M398 Steel): 2.49" (63 mm) blade length with a 2.15" (55 mm) cutting edge.

Three Spydercos come immediately to mind:

Lightest is the Dragonfly, available in several steel options
Similar in weight is the Urban
Heavy duty would be the Lil Native, several steel options.

The ZT 0022 is also a nice one, several handle options are available.

What are the legal consequences of "getting caught"? I'm using the " because I'm having a hard time thinking of a scenario where you're being searched by police if you're a regular dude doing regular things. If the penalty is they basically simply confiscate your knife then I'd carry a cheap 4" blade. Just don't whip it out in public.

if its just a short trip, you could always go tough but inexpensive. The Cold Steel Micro Recon One is less than 3 bucks, Triad lock, and would be more than enough for a trip to the big city.

I decided to get a Civivi Baby Banter fixed blade with nitro v steel that has a 2.39 inch blade in a kydex sheath with an ulticlip 2.2. I can dump it in my pocket or use the ulticlip to hold it in place for easy draw. The key requirement is less than 2.5 inch blade. It was the least expensive of the options. 😉

It comes with a chain for neck carry too, if I desire to neck carry.

It has good reviews as a small edc fixed blade.

Thanks everyone for the input.
