I know that Case made both a tiny and mini 2 blade trapper with a Wharncliffe blade and on the custom side, Mike Alsdorf makes a 2 blade mini with a Wharnie. Who else, production or custom, makes this combination in a mini to regular sized modern interpretation of a trapper? Pics would be most welcome.

Thanks,
David

Here's one by Joel Chamblin. It's 3 1/4" closed.

GEC's Furtaker Trappers are 4 1/8" closed and the blades are about 3". Available in 1095 and 440c.

I believe Tim Britton makes one too. I saw another production knife (other than Case) with a wharncliffe secondary a couple days ago, but can't remember who made it or which website I saw it on. Case also made some standard size trappers with the wharncliffe secondary and I saw a set of jigged yellow or orange bone Case trappers with all three sizes on the "auction site".

I have the large and mini trappers in UV bone:

I'd say T. Bose started the WT craze. Here are 3 on the right...2 by Tony (both 3.5") and 1 by Reese (3.25" but no longer own this one)

Wow!!, Campbell...those are some real nice knives there Sir!

It is interesting to know the origination of that combination. Thanks. It is a useful two-blade combination, I also really like the 3.5" size.

oh boy, I hate to sound like a broken record, but, a small number of folks lead and the rest of us follow. :D

For those that don't know, the Wharncliffe Trapper came about by Tony Bose because he found the typical trapper spey blade not being much use to him. He would re-profile the spey blades (on the production knives he bought) into a Wharncliffe shape. Eventually when he started making knives, he began making what is known today as the Wharncliffe Trapper. Case, in the Jim Parker days, began making the Wharncliffe Trapper after Parker got the pattern from Tony. This was before Tony was officially part of the Case team and therefore never got credit for the idea, even to this day.

Some very pretty knives here. Thanks to an email from a board member pointing me in the right direction I have added my first (3) Wharncliffe Trappers. I am sure that there will be more.

Great explanation, Kerry! And Tony was good enough to teach Reese how to make these things, too. Here is a 3.5" Wharncliffe Trapper in 440V and luscious Ivory with a Double Bomb Shield. This Ivory is very colorful. I've wanted one of these every since I visited Tony and he pulled one out of his pocket. If the Old Dog carry's one, it must be good.

Thanks, that is a pretty knife. I am on Bret's list but that single-blade mini-trapper is really speaking to me and will be my first Dowell.

Doc Hagen is making two bladed wharncliffe blade trappers after the Tony patterns -- including the full slim serpentine premium "trapper" pattern with clip and wharncliffe (basically the handle doesn't get fatter toward the butt, but stays about the same width and the serpentine is more obvious).

I just got a brochure in the mail from A. G. Russell, with a nice looking dogleg trapper with wharncliff and it's mighty pretty! Maybe a bit on the largish size, with a 3 1/2" wharnie and 3 3/8 clip blade with Cocobolo, brown Rucarta or yellow delrin handles. No pics, as these are out of his Knife Collectors Club brochure and not on the web site yet.

Looks like they'll be great quality for a great price.
