2 Blade Trappers w/ Wharnie

Whew, this thread can sure be hazardous to your wallet. So many beautiful custom trappers here. I'm loving this thread because this is one of my favorite patterns even though I don't have but three production versions.

Go back and look through the Bose thread...all of it. You will see some beauties. Given...that it was a lot easier to do it the first time I did it when it was about 60% shorter...but I think everyone in this forum should read through the whole thing at least once. I do it twice a year

I am too late to the game to get on the Bose bros' lists. Still, this a great pattern and one that I hope that the upcoming knife makers will add to their offering. I note that Mike Alsdorf already offers a nice 3 1/2" Wharnie Trapper. Small production shops like GEC, Queen, CSC, Scagel, etc., might well want to add this pattern as well.

I agree. The wharncliffe mini trapper by Case is one of my favorite patterns. One thing I would like to see Case and others do is a Copperhead pattern with a wharncliffe secondary; I have seen one example of such. A wharncliffe mini Copperlock would be a real sweetheart too. - Ed

Yablanowitz, I do the same thing to all of my trappers. And yes, my nail knicks are kind of sloppy too!

That Howser Dogleg is fabulous. I think I could maybe get comfortable with it.

Here's one by Kerry Hampton. Has the slight swell in the handle:

Here's a Henckels that Tony Bose modified for carry back before he made knives:

How old is that Henckels and were there other Wharncliffe Trappers made in the same or earlier eras? I wonder if it was the inspiration for Tony Bose's own Wharncliffe Trappers?

Tony reground the spey blade to that shape. Kerry wrote about it earlier in this thread. The Henckels looks to be a 1960s era knife.

Ahhh. I read Kerry's post but since you mention that this was before Tony started to build his own knives I did not make the connection that the Henckels was reground.

Hey Mike, I don't remember ever seeing that old Henkels before, but maybe I did. :p

Here's another one of my babies, not posted to beat my own drum but, dang...it sure did come out sweet. It's one of those things you do and say to yourself, "did I do that?" :D

Kerry, I had forgotten how nice that ivory WT with the cap was. Lucky guy who got that one from you!
