Recommendation? 2" fixed blade horizontal carry?

I wonder if I got an esee candiru with sheath and used a tech lok if it would work ok? I didn't realize you could use a tech lok with just two of the upper screw holes. I thought you had to use all four.

How big of a difference is there between horizontal and vertical carry with a candiru? Considering its small size?
That I don’t know. I know nothing about the candiru. I do know I don’t like things sticking above my belt when I bend over

Not sure where you're getting the laws from. For one never tell a cop you're carrying for self defense or expect them to know current knife laws unless they are a knife guy. Two you said cali, so local laws over rule state, but from legal blade for california state:

No concealed carry for any length fixed blade ( if your shirt covers your knife on your belt it's concealed)
Open carry is okay for almost everything every length (must be fairly visable, not sure actual definition of open)
The <2" is only applied to autos, balis, and gravity knives.

You're a trim guy tho. Lol. I think horizontal is the way for me to go.

I think I may have to pony up for one with the micarta scales. Ir add them to one without. And get the armatus sheath.
Thanks. 😂
Good luck. I use the snot out of my Candiru since getting it at Christmas!! 😍😍

I've never been anything but overjoyed with my esee knives and their prices. I like the Candirus substantial handle with micarta scales. The width is nice with a full .125. And the blade length is exactly legal for me. That Armatus sheath is nice too. The $45 fir the sheath takes me over budget to around $100+. But I think it might be worth it.

Where did you find this? I spent the better part of a week on here in a thread dedicated to legal carry in Los Angeles. Which includes LA and CA laws. It was such a mess I never did feel comfortable with what I walked away thinking what "legal" was.

So the above is saying even a 2 inch fixed blade concealed is illegal right?

I could never find a "clear" definition of "assisted" either. It read like an engineer wrote it 10 years ago. And the above seems to state I can't carry a single edge fixed blade concealed. But I "might" (yellow) be able to carry a double edged fixed blade concealed in some areas?!

God I hate living here.

In my last research it just seemed to me that the powers that be simply wanted to confuse enough people, so that the most people would be to scared to carry any kind of defensive weapon at all.

I used to build AK's. But the gun laws are so confusing now you need a chart to figure out what you can and can not build. And so many things got outright banned I sent most of my long guns out of state.

Edit - If you open carried a knife of any length (even though it appears legal) you would for sure get the cops called on you. No question. And I'd bet every corporate entity of every store you've ever heard of has a rule against ooen carry.

I'm also not even sure that chart is correct for LA or in the many adjourning cities. Legal open carry of a knife can change in a few blocks. The LA basin is huge and full of small cities around Los Angeles city proper. Especially if your traveling the many freeways. The laws can change moment to moment as you drive around. You'd literally need a gps guided map app that constantly monitored what jurisdiction you were in. And a live feed screen warning of when you were legal and when you were not.

Local laws would be the ones to follow in cali. The app has those too, I think. This is off legal blade. Free app designed by knife rights and blade hq.

And yea most knife laws suck like that. At least if I have this and am caught up where the cop says I'm violating it I can explain that I was trying to follow the law.

I just read the reviews and release date. The reviews are spotty. And it hasn't been updated since 2020.

So again, I'm still left wondering. At least to the point of not feeling "confident" about conceal carry knife laws in my area. Not confident enough that I want to conceal carry. And not rich enough to hire an attorney for an opinion.

Its not just about conceal carrying either. If you're doing it right. No one is going to notice until you use it. Right? And its once you use it. Which is the entire purpose of doing so to begin with. That it will become an issue. "Man uses "illegal knife" to stop attacker. Gets reduced sentence of 1 year in state prison."

I guess I'll stick to my folder with a thumbstud.

Where I live, fixed and concealed is flatly prohibited. Apparently you can carry a machete openly.

That's my go to for knife laws being dumb. I can't buy an auto some places, but I can get a <50$ machete with 20 inches of reach in the same places. I'd want the machete with the reach to do bad things.
