Can you tell us more about that blue recessed circle that's full of holes?

I suspect it's to get past the circle ring mount on the motor?


What did you do there and why not just cut it out completely ?

Yes, that is my crude way of removing material to recess the 56C motor face. I did this primarily to allow for more shaft to be through on the other side.

You certainly could have skipped that step, and just bolted the motor down as that proud surface on the 56C motor face is flat... but there is not much motor shaft to work with to begin, thus another 1/4" I thought might be a good idea. You could also have cut it all out, but then you would have large hole in the plate for chips and dust to fall in
