200: RC-6 - Who are they?

I had to order more of these! They are pretty popular!

I had to be one of your first shipped. I ordered mine with you in March and got it not long after word was they were shipping.

Thanks for everything, Derrick.

Thanks Jeff, Mike, and Shon.

Hey folks anyone know who has these in stock? I want to pick up a plain edge and can't seem to locate one.

I got one... very nice. Unfortunately I have a cast from my wrist to my shoulder so have not been able to put it to use yet... I can type one handed though. slowly...

With that Sheppard in your avatar holding your severed arm like that, you're lucky they got it sewn back on to cast! :D

Those are some nice looking dogs - If they aren't Sheppards, I apologize in advance.

Hope you heal well and get some use soon. Cutting that cast off may be a good first use. ;)

Hey I just saw one in the for sale forum for a good price. I'd jump on it! I'd get it and have two but thats just being greedy :)

I just got a whole new shipment. The first couple flew off the shelves!

I think the supply pipeline is getting up to speed because I just ordered the last ones a week or so ago.

Hey cmdr249. Isn't it possible to attach the molle clips to carry the knife horizontaly accross the back on the belt. Maybe that would take care of the problems with where it rides and aid in an easier draw.

wildmike - you are correct. The way the molle clips and sheath are set up there are a lot of possibilities. I honestly haven't tried a horizontal carry - it isn't my usual style for on-person. It's a great idea/thought and it would be cool to hear from anyone that has done it.

I took the RC-6 into the back woods yesterday to do some fallen tree/storm clean up and the knife rode well on the hip. It stayed in the sheath with no use but I hardly noticed it was there.

I'm lucky to have a RC-4 as well so I may end up putting the RC-6 to a pack mount. I may try the molle extender for it as well when it comes out. I'm going to try a large Tec-lok at some point. I believe with this sheath there is just no "gentle" unsheathing.

The RC-6 is a top notch piece of gear!:thumbup::thumbup::cool:

My RC-6 came the other day and after reading your comments about a tough draw I was a little nervous. I don't seem to have any problem though. The sheath holds solidly and with just a little push from my thumb the knife slides out. The FIRST time taking the knife out was really difficult, however. But after a few in an outs the fit was perfect.

Must be something with mine then. If I put the knife in the sheath and give a push with just the thumb (like my RAT-3/sheath - sorry, I don't have an RC-3 yet) I can't get the knife out without giving a substantial pull as well - either on the belt or just the sheath.

It locks solid regardless - mine just doesn't seem like it has an easy draw.

Thanks for posting your report!

Okay, since I'm obsessive about things sometimes, I went back to the beginning with the RC-6 sheath, stripping all the mounts to examine it. I have found the issue I have been having.

It is coming from mounting the Tec-lock through the sheath rivets. Even thought the rivet holes are there and provide mounting points, when I mount the Tec-lok and tighten it down it is tightening rivets in the sheath sides as well. If I loosen up the top mounting screws in the Tec-lok it eases the pressure of the draw.

I didn't know mounting the Tec-lok could cause this, maybe others did. It makes sense but I didn't think compressing the screws tight could affect the rivets that much.

I'm glad others have posted experiences because it made me look at it and I learned something about the mount.

Recieved mine last week. Had a Spec Ops sheath lying around. I was hoping It would fit. Yay it fit.

I like the plastic sheath, but I'm not liking the color. I'm probably going to practice some Rattle can camo painting.;)

Glad you got it figured out. Did you use the washers/spacers that came with the MOLLE clip gear? I would think that they would provide a tight fit while absorbing some of the pressure so it's not all clamping down on the sheath. Just a thought.

Yes, I did smcclown 05, thanks. It's snug now but not what I would consider "tight" like I had it before - it's essentially thumb tight so I'll have to see if it does anything. When I had it tight I wouldn't have really thought with the washers that it was clamping that much pressure through the rivets.

It does make me feel better that I don't have to "wrench" at it to get it out.

I appreciate being able to think this out loud and other feedback!

You can manipulate the tightness of the RC4 sheath like that a bit too. Not so much that it's a pain to draw though.

This reminds me of the scene in Black Hawk Down when the dude in the cast wants to go in to help rescue the stranded soldiers in the city, but he has a cast on his arm and the other guy says "where are you going?" and Mr. cast says "with you guys". "Not with that cast on" says the guy, and instantly Mr. cast pulls out a fixed blade and starts to cut it off. :)
