well folks do you realy think there have ever been 20000 old unwnted mercededes lorry springs in INDIA OR NEPAL? {TO QUOTE MUNK.}

WAKE UP! THERE CUT OUT OF REASONABLE QUALITY SHEET CARBON STEEL IMPORTTED FROM INDIA.

I will preface this by saying that this doesn't really warrant a response, but I guess I'm a sucker for fat mouths that throw taunts.

I would venture to say that you are correct in saying that not all of the kukris are made from Mercedes springs; and that even if the spring came from a Mercedes it doesn't mean that it wasn't a replacement made in India or locally in Nepal. So what? Bill said that they used other springs as well if these weren't available. Perhaps some of them are made from virgin sheet stock. If it is properly forged and heat treated I for one don't give a crap.

But, where do you get your number of 20,000 springs? I for one know for a fact that this many springs would make a minimum of 100,000 or more kukris. I know this because I've spent many,many days pounding hot iron working at the forge.

In ending, I would say this. If you really wished to know what the bulk of the HI kukri's are currently made of you would have posted a question to Yangdu asking as much. But again, who truly cares? It appears that a person with an attitude and an agenda does. So, what is your agenda Mr. Kukrilove?

kukrilove is a troll, plain and simple. He and his master Simon have lost their cheap little battle so he is trying to bring the battle to our ground. I see him as an ignorant, unfulfilled bitter little man with a lot of time on his hands. The loser can rave on all he wants.

Seriously, I think Kukrilove may have been finding out too late we were not all lockstep fanatics. The attack thread on the other forum was impossible to answer- a logical refutation meant we 'we only fooling ourselves'. Or we had a 'boy's club', or a cult.

Are all HI khuks thick spined inelegant slugs only fit for firewood? Or is it the habaki bolster that is weak and means those khuks will break on the wood? Which was it? I couldn't keep up. Were all our blades unfit for marital arts, or just some of them? Did we have no curved handles, no slender profiled blades, no traditional bolsters? Of course not. Was a straight handle a bad thing? I like some of the choppers that have them.

How many times can we say to people who do not wish to understand that more khuks in this world would have been welcome?
But a person who deliberately insults all, slanders a company, accuses and attacks, is going to be dealt with.

I don't like barriors. I wish magic would work more often in the world, Karma, Spirit, and good things would happen, people would come together. It can't always happen that way no matter how hard we try.

I don't even like banning folks. Bill used to hope the feedback from peers would do the job. Sort of taking the grief you've earned.

But at a certain point, mindless destruction can't be permitted to ruin our wonderful forum. Your moderators are all different people, but on that we come together.

He's not posting. All these spam and troll posts he did this afternoon. The absence of the scales answer my earlier whimsical question- about giving rep to the banned.

Several of you have asked what he was talking about. I don't know either. But earlier I'd said, in reference to a alleged blade failure, that seeing one Mercedes on a tow truck did not mean all Mercedes belonged there. At several other posts I'd estimated HI to have easily sold 20,000 khuks.

Now, how that turns into what KL said is mystifying, and possibly word salad.

It became 20,000 Mercedes truck springs. Apparently Tora steel is brought in sheets from India. I don't recall anyone asking Yangdu about this, but the last time Bill addressed this, what- a year and a half ago?- he listed Mercedes as the first choice, and two other vehicle manufacturers as second and third choices. He also talked about how far the Kamis or their helpers had to travel to obtain spring steel, and the people they had to pay off along the way. I recall one other thing Bill said about steel- how he wouldn't guarentee the Villager steel was the same as the regular line. He may have been thinking aloud.

Does HI still get spring steel? Don't know. I don't think Simon believed Bill, though, and that's what this all comes to.

I agree that's the best way to respond to anyone
trying to get attention for whatever reason.

On the other hand,
these are not private conversations,
_many_ people will read for knowledge without participating,
unanswered accusations will be in the archives for years.
Other people, who probably have no background of reference,
will read the thread looking for khuk info.

So my preference is this:

#1 Converse with anyone who seems reasonable.

#2 When the poster is a potential or known troll;
respond with as many facts, references, & details
as I have time for.

Responding to 'dis-information' with real information.

B - My guess is that KL is a perfectly competent english speaker & writer.
Most people who type like that are having a good Laaf.
KL is trying to Laaf -at- us.

not actually forged by the kamis.

But, to answer our friend Kukrilove...I don't care if they're cut out of alumunim cans, as long as they keep performing. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't care if little elves come out of a knife and cut things up for me each time I unsheath it. As long as the job gets done, in a manner that I feel is acceptable for a given price, the specifics do not concern me. Knife makers worry about the specifics. Knife users worry about getting the job done. The rest is academic.

The poor guy has never seen an HI khukuri up close and in person. There is no way that anyone would mistake these knives for mass produced knives. I would even doubt there is a metal press large enough to do the job he is suggesting in all of Nepal. :rolleyes:
