2007 Blade Forum Benefit Bowie Totals

A tip of the Hat to everyone who got involved from Organizers to Makers and Participants
The Highlight of 07 here on the Forum.

Tremendous amount of work by many, pulled off without a hitch. That will be hard to top in '08, but I'll bet we can!
Great project.

The story of the Blade Forums Benefit Bowie will be told in the next addition of
Blade Magazine (July’08) which is due out in a couple weeks.

The article was written by our own Roger Pinnock and Stephen Foster.
Though the article is coming out latter than we would have liked, it’s still a tribute to all here who helped contribute to the design, the making of it and purchased tickets.

The project team decided that we may not be able to do the project justice this year considering the time being spent by some members on the creation of the CKCA.
We have however kept the website open for a possible BFB Bowie II next year.

Just wanted to make everyone aware of the article so you could be on the lookout for it as their would not have been a Blade Forum Benefit without you.

Kudos to Roger and Stephen, two guys who are a big part of this forum.
Although Stephen doesn't post much, when he does you can be sure it'll be golden, same goes for Roger.
Cool to see images of that amazing Bowie, again.

I didn't overdo it did I?
I meant it.

Doug :)

I have been informed that the "Blade Forum Benefit Bowie" project will receive an award tomorrow night at that the Annul Blade Show Awards Banquet. I'm proud to have been asked to accept the award on BF member's behalf.

The Blade Forum Benefit Bowie was awarded the 2008 Blade Magazine Publisher's Award for Achievement at last Saturday night's Blade Show Award Banquet.

We ALL got a very nice round of applause. Upon receiving the award on your behaft I recognized and thanked individually the makers, the photographers (Coop & Chuck Ward) and all BF customs & handmade members for the design and contributions/raffle ticket purchases.

I would like to thank Blade Magazine and Steve Shackleford for all the support and coverage they gave all us on this customs/handmade forum, Blade Forums in general and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

I have the award but it actually belongs to all of us. I appreciated Jerry going with me for support as I'm not that comfortable getting up and talking in front of all those people.

That is terrific news - I am delighted that this most worthwhile project received this kind of recognition.

My thanks to Blade Magazine and Shack as well.

If you could take a pic of the award so that we could all see it, that would be great.

Roger

I will Roger. Chris Reeves and William Henry took home a lot of awards.

Any plans on future projects? I realize that the CKCA is very time consuming at present, but it sure would be great to do this again.

Congrats again on such a fine project guys!

I'd like to help out on the next one... if there is another.

So are you guys that were involved going to do a pass-around on the award?

Seems like the fair thing to do... :)

Sounds good to me. I'm just holding it because I was asked to accept it at the awards banquet.
It belongs to everyone on this forum who contributed in any fashion.

That's awesome, it was a worthwhile project and nice to see it turned out so well. Maybe we can have another raffle to see who gets to keep the award? Would be interesting to see if the award draws more than the knife itself to benefit breast cancer research...
