That was your first mistake! ;)

(Thanks, Anthony. Your friendship and support means a lot to us both!)

Now, wait a minute.

I know Anthony has stature and all ... and is a man of substance.

But does my support have no value?? I'm a scientist, man!!

I must've missed the part where you said you trust me implicitly! ;)

I wouldn't trust either one of us. :D. (trouble is that it is hard to find a crooked knifemaker, so you should be pretty safe). ;)

Thanks guys.

I voted for $200.00 to $400.00. Ohta makes some nice patterns in that price range. Larry

Gus and Elliott,

Don't know who will be selected for this, but will maybe find out After the Bladeshoe...BUT..I Can't wait for whoever is decided on! I have the feeling that it will be a "Gooden", and there will be some souls who then wished they would have jumped in, when they see what we're getting and didn't jump on board, when they had the chance!

Just my 2 Cents!

I don't know about the rest of this crowd here. But, I trust Blues and Bastid IMPLICITLY.

Shucks, Jim, you're makin' us blush. :o

(I might suggest you pick your friends more carefully, however. :p)

It appears as if right now 38 folks might be willing to pony up in that range, now when are we going to have a maker order the blade blanks from the water jet guy and get started? I know you have a pattern in mind and the selection of style and scale materials all picked out. Remember I trust you two implicitly. I still vote for the makers I PM'd.
Have either been asked yet?
Jim

I think I'd best give up. While I have a small shred of dignity left. ;)

Well, in that case, OldPhysics, I'm sure I speak for Gus as well as myself when I say that we hold your trust and friendship in great esteem.
(Even if you are a scientist, man! ;))

Gus,

Will we find out after the Bladeshow who was picked to be the knifemaker for this Great project?

Thanks much!

Kent

Yup,

Right now we have a yes from one maker and the rest that have been mentioned to me via P.M.'s just do not have the bandwidth and or schedule to take this one on. (Very understandable when you stop and think about what we are asking of a knife-maker.) I hope to have the OK from one or two other makers (if we are lucky) and we will go from there with a vote and then a solid committment.

The maker chosen will have more weight in deciding the pattern than any of us will ;).

I am thinking that the 38 folks will boil down to around 12 or 16 when/if the rubber hits the road.

Gus,

Thanks much!

I think you will be pretty close to the final number. For all the nights, I work P.T. jobs..I will be socking away for this one! I Know that it will turn out to be a pretty special knife.

Dang RBM, that Ohta you have there is SWEET! I kinda prefer s9ingle-bolster myself, but that is a looker. Hopefully this project will end up in that direction.

Just have not had the time to devote to this at this point I want to have a couple of makers that have the bandwidth to take it on.

I'd be in for $2-400 depending on a pattern. I really like the idea of a single blade barlow, especially since that pattern is nigh impossible to find in the production market.
