2008 Forum Knife Delivery Thread

Gang,
We are nearing the completion date for the knives. I hope to have a target day soon.

In preparation, I have labeled the shipping boxes and am saving newspapers for packing.

It occurs to me that I should verify mailing addresses while waiting. There are 40 domestic packages and 7 international.

I will be trying to PM each of you to confirm the shipping address I have. A number of folks have asked me to ship to businesses or friends. I want to be sure that those businesses and friends are still good addresses.

Once I have confirmed the address on the box, I will change your name to RED.

If you have email and pms turned off, please email me a confirmation address to edandbrandi@charter.net

Thank you all for your swift replies. Aslo, thank you for your continued encouragement and support. I am waiting for a call from Northwoods, but Dave is at a show in TN this week. Hopefully, Dave will call back when he has an update available.

I sent you an e-mail this morning confirming that the address is correct. Thanks for everything on this year's forum knife.
 
I just spoke to David on the phone.
We are looking at a date closer to Christmas.
They work with Queen and we are in line.
I will keep you informed. I know I had hoped to see them a bit sooner, but they will come in their own time.

At least I have boxes, packing material and everything reeady to go when they get to me!

Maybe they're coming in time for New Year (Old Style Russian Orthodox....)

Whatever, it's nice to look forward.
 
Sorry to say, nothing new this week. I am ready to turn them around very quickly once I receive them.

Without being to anti-folksy, it IS expected that the vendor will deliver within a fairly tight window of the quoted date....no excuses, no BS, no quarter given.

IF the knives are as expected, and on time, within reason, all will be joyous in Folksyville...if not, well....the vendor will not appreciate my salty daily phone calls.:eek:

Here we go....Ed, one case of Maalox on the way;):D One thing I've learned is that cutleries almost never get the SFO's out by target dates, because that's what they are, target dates. They're usually backed up with other orders and their own product intros, not to mention hiccups on the production lines, so I just basically forget about it until the knife shows up at my door, makes for a nice surprise anyway:thumbup::D
Ya gotta just remember that it's pretty much out of poor Ed's hands right now. Aside from making the occassional phone call to see how things are progressing, there's not much he can do but sit by the mailbox popping Maalox pills every ten minutes.

Trouble is, I'm a sucker for a jingle or a pun. I had too much fun with that one not to post it.
 
I called Northwoods, because I am not known for my patience. Dave said that the knives should ship Monday or Tuesday(don't wanna steal your thunder, Ed, but see above).....so Christmas delivery is really not going to happen.

IF the quality of knife produced is as expected, it can go without saying that the grumbling will be kept to a minimum.

If not.....:eek:

All I can say Ed is Thanks, when ever the knife gets here, I still appreciate all you've done, its easy to grumble but you took on a huge task, one bigger than me and most who are waitin for their knives were willing to take on.

Thanks Ed, I appreciate all you have done. It will be here when it gets here. It will still be the forum knife and might even make it during 2008.:)
