2008 Forum Knife quotes.

After looking at both examples, the Northwoods in 1095, stag and simple rounded or square bolsters gets my vote.

Either is fine with me. Canal Street used some fine stag on the first year knife.

Somehow the knife should be marked as a BFC forum knife and etching seems the best and cheapest way to do that. If the knife is not marked as a forum knife, I personally will not want it since that is the biggest appeal to me.

Carbon steel is my personal preference.

That makes complete sense, Gus. I guess when I stated my preference I was referring to my normal aversion to "gussied up" knives. In this instance it would be counterproductive though I'd still prefer (if I were to order one) to have it as simple and basic as possible.

I'm in as a "maybe" right now, but if either of these knives were to be chosen I'd be in as a "yes". In fact, if whatever is eventually decided upon comes in at this price point and is of the quality of these two -- and yes, has a "BF '08" etch of some type -- I'll be in for sure.

Not long after I got the 2007 BFC Cannitler in mammoth ivory, etched and scrolled, I bought another in bone with no embellishments/no gussie.
However, our BFC knives need to be marked. Even it is something so subtle as BFC '08 engraved on one of the bolsters.

I have nothing against the Northwoods offering, although my preference is for another Canal Street knife, I'm into them for a teen of others in my collection, just need to add more,

I like the Northwoods, In fact I like the way it looked in the picture so much I just ordered a large Stag Stockman from them. So My vote to this point would be the Northwoods. Steven

Since the Northwoods comes in both Stag and 1095, it gets my vote. The price is quite nice too.

My vote is also for Northwoods in 1095 and stag.
I got last year's CS forum knife and thought it was OK, but I also haven't put forth the effort to get another Canal Street since then.

I'm pretty partial to Canal Street myself, partly , like Rusty1, because I've been collecting them and have grown very fond of the quality. I have about twelve in stag and don't see a problem with any of them. I've also come to know a number of folks there personally, so I guess I'm biased. I've seen how much they take pride in what they produce, and how pissed they get when something goes wrong with a knife. They're a small company trying to make a go of it, so I like to pull for them, plus, I really like that new stockman! Anyway, rant off, I'm in regardless:thumbup::D

Damn, Ireally like the way the CS looks but I wanna use the heck outta this knife and the Northwoods looks more likely to fit the bill, so it gets my vote.

I really like the way Northwoods consistently does beautiful stag knives. Plus, they have given us a good price. At this point I would commit if we went with the Northwoods.

I think I'm coming around to the Northwoods. The one Northwoods knife I have has excellent stag and the fit and finish is great. Don't think we could go wrong with them.

I'm liking the CS. Not a fan of the squared bolsters on the Northwoods knife. Now if they offer a rounded bolster, more like CS, I might change my opinion.

If we're going to do this, do it right. 4-4 1/2" stock, 1095, stag. :)

Not QUITE:D

Needs to be a MEDIUM Stockman 9cms/3.5" with stag AND rounded bolsters which Northfields seems to do on other patterns, just looked an equal end pen-knife of theirs in stag or mammoth, well good:thumbup:

I'd jump on that NOW!

Northwoods in stag and simple square bolsters
I would love D2, but otherwise 1095

I just saw some fodders that Canal Street did for the AG Russell catalog in rams horn...very pretty, would love to have a forum knife from them. I really liked the 4 1/2 inch Wildcat Driller they are offering. I simply am in awe of that big main blade.
