2008 Forum Knife quotes.

I am on the maybe list ,but ready to commit. Has the knife been decided? I do not have a knife from either company so I would welcome either. I do like the looks of the CS , however I was wondering if we could talk Northwoods into doing the square bolsters with flush joints (If they have the capability to do this). I saw those flush joints on some older knives in another thread and REALLY liked it.

The Nothwoods looks nice, but I would prefer it in the 4" range. Much as I like the 2 CS knives we've got so far, and appreciate the service they've provided I'm still not 100% convinced somehow.

Here is a medium Northwoods Stockman I sold to a friend months ago for reference. The steel is D2 and 4" in length.

Although I just requested to be on the maybe list, one just like that with a small "BFC 2008" etch, like on the choil or shield, would make me a buyer. No scrolls or fancy stuff please. D2 or 1095 would be just fine. I think it would also be nice to try Northwoods Knives this year. Just my humble .02.

I'm totally with fewpop on everything he said...

There you are, very nice looking scales, shield and rounded bolsters:thumbup:

That D2 looks a bit tarnished, so carbon would be better in terms of patina (and sharpening:D)

Friends,

I'm with Fewpop too!

I think either knife would be fine. I guess Canal Street would be D2 or 440C steel though. I like both, I already have two Canal Street Forum knives and I wouldn't mind getting another one. Maybe you could do a poll and see which one we should go with?

The fit and finish, ESPECIALLY on the main blade of the Canal Street is lightyears ahead of the Northwoods.

I like D2.

For those of you who value my opinion, the Canal Street gets my unqualified support.

3.5" closed is a MEDIUM stockman, anything longer than 4" is a large. Personally prefer the larger pattern, but the vote went to a medium pattern, as I recall.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

The original poll results showed a strong preference (which I share, and based on which I made my commitment) for a stag medium stockman in 1095. Canal Street indicated they were unwilling to make a knife in 1095. Are we starting over at square one?.

I dont think so. Northwoods has presented us with a very nice offer, and they produce very nice knives. I was under the impression we were waiting to hear from Queen. If there are no other proposals, then the 2008 folder is a stag Northwoods of 1095 blade steel. No frills, just a really good user knife.

I recommend we go foward with the Northwoods project.

Best idea yet...poll those who want to buy on of the knives..(I did send an e-mail but am not on the list) and go with they majority vote.
