aceofblades, the canittler was the 2007 knife, this round is for the 2008:D

I'm down as "maybe" - as in I'm waiting to see how big the knife is going to be. I want in if it's bigger than 3.5" long.

I would like to see options from Northwoods Knives besides Canal Street or Queen. Northwoods is producing some outstanding traditional patterns, with quality fit and finish. We need to keep all our options open.

At this point, I'm in as a Maybe.

I called Northwoods this morning and spoke to a gentleman named Dave. He indicated that they do like to work in stag and will respond to a request for a unit cost.

Thanks for the reminder,

Ed T

Ed,
I'm glad to hear you have reached out to Northwoods Knives. As many of our fellow forumites know from personal experience, and viewing their knives on these forums, they produce really nice work. Plus I feel good about supporting one of the smaller, cutting edge (punn intended) knifeworks.

Also, I guess I was one of the unlucky few, whose 2007 Bladeforums cannitler (#22) had to go back to Canal Street Cutlery for less than acceptable workmanship. My 2007 Cannitler arrived with scratched bolsters, and heavily cracked ivory. Wally Gardiner, one of the principal owners of CSC asured me it will come back to me finished beautifully. Since the knife is still at CSC, jury is still out as far as I'm concerned. Although I suspect he will live up to his word. I'm looking forward to sharing pictures of the refinished knife with our group here.

Doesn't Queen manufacture the Northwoods knives? I thought I had seen that they were made by the Schatt and Morgan division, but I can't recall where I read it. Sorry about that 2007 knife Jay, let me know how you make out with it. I don't don't think you have to worry , from what I've seen they're really serious about keeping their customers happy.

If they do, it might be a little awkward. I sent the request for bid to Queen as well.

Northwoods is going to be more expensive. As far as I know they don't make any slipjoints (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) They contract the knives from Queen & put their stag on it. But they do have some nice stag.

I'd be willing to pay a little extra for a Northwoods (little to me means around $25-ish more). They do use some great looking stag.

I voted a week ago, but now I see you want our names. I am in for a "maybe". I have got the first two knives, so I guess I am a pretty strong "maybe".
