So Joe, when do we get the new 2009 Catalog? It looks like Messer has already found a new model in the Impulse...can't wait to see what else will be offered. :)

The Shot Show did start today.....

I'll second that motion for the catalog :D

Or a good leak to the BCCI would be reasonable I think.

I think the Smidgen is an '09 item also.

I got money burning a hole in my pocket and it will find another "need" soon!:o

I'll send out a third motion for the catalog...all in favor say "I" or "Aye". Looks like this year will be a closed mouth session until the shot show:(. Members of the BCCI will get a 09 catalog with their March news letter....wow, that's a life time from now;).

If you call me, I can give you an overview of the new 2009 catalog offerings. You may email me for a phone number but please do not email me specific questions as I just do not have the time to type a lot of long replies. Dealers received the 2009 catalog about two weeks ago. BCCI members have my contact information in the club newsletter.
There are some very cool new offerings, especially in the hunting and Legacy (formerly Limited Edition) categories.

I'm not sure I understand the secrecy around the new catalog every year. Most of Buck's competitors have their 2009 catalogs posted on their web sites to look at, download, etc.

I gave Larry Oden a call as he suggested. Now I can't wait to see all of the cool new stuff. I think the secrecy is so no other company can steal (copy) Bucks Ideas before the big roll out at the Shot show.

I don't know JB....

I did send my money in for BCCI membership so I guess I can look forward to receiving a catalog in March

Here is a little tidbit from the SHOT show by Dave Petzel on his Field & Stream blog:

"How anyone can come up with a new knife at this late date is beyond me, but Buck Knives has. It’s called the Avid Model 497; a big-game skinner with a blade of 12C27 MOD Sandvik Steel (no, this is not your daddy’s Buck), a nice, big, excellently shaped rosewood Dymondwood handle, and a very good sheath. Although it’s got a skinning-knife belly, you can use it for just about anything, and that big handle is a winner. MSRP is $130. Buckknives.com"

Here is the knife Messer was talking about: Avid 497

Okay - now I have something to wait for - a 497! Is this going to be another '07 catalog front goodie, like that #408 Kalinga Pro (S30V) was? It wasn't available until October, if memory serves me. Of course, I had those two new 005's before I got the Dealer's catalog last year, so go figure.

I was positive that picture of the 497 would incite a slew of comments.

The add in smkw is a typo the knife is called "ERGOHUNTER" not EGO.
The name PRO, AVID,SELECT, tells the knife quality according to price and materials.

Thanks Flatlander.... I like the looks of the Avid and the all wood handled EGO. And I've had good experiences with 13C26 Sandvis with other companies.

Nice!!! About time Buck define a class system
PRO-S30V
AVID-13C26
SELECT-420HC

I wonder if this is the end of 154cm in the Buck Stable??????

btw, I like sound of EGO Hunter way better than ERGO Hunter. But what the hell do I know anyway. I keep looking at that picture and its growing on me....fast.

Yeah, I guess I was getting confused with the Avid name. Both the EGO and Vantage lines have an "Avid" model.
