2009 Cutting Bowie

Just finished up my "cutter" for 2009, nothing special but been a while since ive posted here. I try and make at least 1 a year for myself, but im generally talked out of them long before the year is up :D

What Matt was really trying to say was...he is generally talked out of them before the MONTH is up. ;) :D

Matt was letting me know what he had 'on the bench' and ask if I would be interested in his 2009 Cutter. I loved the blade profile on this the minute he posted it. I enjoy larger knives, but wasn't sure about the thickness of this one. Matt knew I like larger handled bowies, and said he thought I might like this one, especially after he wrapped it.

It arrived today. I thought I had made a mistake when I first took it out of the package...fairly thick grip with the cord wrap. Lots of steel out in front of the handle. Balances at about the rear-end of the Lamey maker mark. Just didn't feel quite like I thought it would. But, I decided to wait until I got home this evening and spent some time with it in hand.

I called Matt after whacking a few branches around the yard, and swinging this around some in both hands. Told him I was sold on his knife...it's a keeper after all. My mind was thinking bowie/fighter...but, once I got home and put it to the test doing what a chopper was intended to do, I realized Matt had made a super working knife.

Hope to have more to comment on this one after more use. The cord wrap grip is a hand-full, but is a tremendous asset for this sized chopper. Not that familiar with wrap over wood, but it sure has a great grip to it. Matt has included everything he can in this 15-inch dandy!

I understand he has two more personal cutters in the works, so maybe he will keep one for more than a few weeks!
