I say go with something new. I'd like to see a 1095 Sunfish with a Wharncliffe and a Spear point. That would be different and handy at the same time.

A Mini Trapper would be nice with carbon steel blades.I want in again regardless of what is decided.

Can a newbie get in on this?

I like the idea of that Hawbaker Muskrat but it sounds like this is what ya'll are proposing.

Let's start with the who first. Otherwise we are going to have a mess on our hands.

Just a quick note on the first knife - stag sleeveboard. The blades on that one were A2.

Once we have a leader on the project, then lets get into the type of knife.

Any volunteers? :D. (Not a job for the meek) ;).

Can you post a pic of all that have been done so far?

How's the leg doing?

smaller sheepfoot in secondary

With the obvious exception of the 2009 version, here are the previous specials (not my photo):

Here's a list from '06 to present:

2006 – Canal Street Cutlery – 3” Sleeveboard Ring Opener (A2 blade and nail file with torched Sambar stag scales)

2007 – Canal Street Cutlery – 3 ½”, 3-blade Cannitler (D2 with Mastodon scales)

2008 – Northwood – 3 1/4”, 3-blade Stockman (1095 with stag scales)

2009 – Queen – 2-blade Barlow (D2 with stag scales)

ETA 1: Don't have a pic of the Stockman.

ETA 2: Thanks rbmcmjr

I must say, you guys put together a nice collection of knives.
Thanks for the pics. I love the 2007 knife.

I would really be into the scout knife idea, that sounds like a great choice. Another thought on the same theme is that same knife but in a thinner that traditional scout knife (think Kamp King, just for a reference) shape. Not thin, just not as round. I have a real nice example I'll try to dig out and post just so the ideas clear.

Totally different direction. What are thoughts on a nice simple, single blade or main blade and small blade jack (Say spear and pen, or clip and pen)? I kinda dig the idea of the single blade, and it's something my little collection is missing in the traditionals.

Sorry Bastid, I understand the who first part, just figured no harm in kicking around ideas in the meantime. If my schedule wasn't such a total mess I'd volunteer to be at least one of a pair, but all signs point to a really obnoxious new year coming up. 138k airline miles, and 5 weeks out of the country last year(just tallied stuff up for paperwork crap), doesn't make for a reliable planner for anything else.

I am happy to do the negotiating, and ordering. I have a U.S. bank account, and I have special-ordered knives from Queen, and GEC in the past, and know the people in those places. The knives however would have to be shipped to someone in the U.S, and distributed from there, as I live in Canada.

And I'd love to see a Cattle Knife with traditional blades in it, spear main, sheepfoot, and a punch! Nice Redbone, or Greenbone in a traditional jigging pattern
1095 or D-2!!

I would like a knife like that too Charlie, only with a clip point because I think spear blades belong on a Scout knife only, and Queen has the big Cattle King, and the sheepfoot.....the punch is doable as well, I think.

You don't have to be in the U.S. to negotiate with a manufacturer, Charlie. I would offer to receive and ship, but I got wore out on last year's knife project.

A word of advice to whoever winds up doing this year's knife.

Find a manufacturer FIRST.

Find a pattern they actually do or have done....because just about NO manufacturer wants to do 100 knives or so in a limited run, and those that will.....WILL NOT prototype a new pattern for 100 knives or so....unless we are willing to pay them around $300.00 a knife.

Those of you who want a swayback with a split spring and a nailfile had better come up with a manufacturer who is willing to do that, or do everyone a favor, and hold your peace.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

No truer words were ever written in the knife ordering world Steven, everyone should definitely make a note of that.

I'd be more than happy to help in any way possible Charlie, just drop me a line anytime:thumbup:
