I already voted for the GEC, but I have changed my mind and prefer the moose. I don't think this will matter on the voting, so unless there is a tie, this can be ignored. I think it is a shame that all three did not have the same photographic presentation. I am also surprised that GEC didn't present a Northfield instead of a Tidioute. I would buy any one (or maybe more) of the three choices. I wonder what Schrade would have offered if they were still alive?
If you can find me a better picture of a bone handled GEC, I will switch them!!
I have been looking!!
email it to me!!

This Canadian had to vote for the moose, of course. I'm in for one no matter what though. Thanks!

If I can just add one thing: I hope all those who are voting realize that they are generally committing to buying a knife, I'd hate to have someone casting a vote with no intentions of carrying through, not very cool.

We have, as of this moment, 118 total votes, so that should be the minimum number of knives we have to order so far.

Great choices BTW, I like 'em all!

Well, I can't speak for the others but my vote is a definite intention to buy, regardless of which one wins.

Might be a good idea to take a final roundup of buyers after the poll is over, I noticed a couple of replies that said they'd only buy if a particular knife is selected.

A Moose and her calf walked through my "yard" today, a good sign for the Moose crew ;-)

Regards

Robin

How does casting a vote commit anyone to buy? If the knife that wins is not what you are interested in why would you commit to buy one. I have a 35 year old Browning with Ebony and it still looks terrible to me. I don't like Ebony and I will not be purchasing a knife with Ebony scales. Just curious?

For those of you who do like the Ebony I hope the knife comes out looking great and the process continues without a hitch. It has been fun participating thus far and hope the 2011 knife will be more to my liking.

I also agree that if the knife you voted for in this poll does not win, you should not be commited to buy. Me personally, I will not buy a Gec knife.
I thought we were just voting on which of the 3 knives/companies.

Remember, if your favorite knife doesn't win, it may come up as next year's knife!!
Please vote only if you intend to buy a knife.
Does that mean "Please vote only if you intend to buy whatever knife wins a majority for the BladeForums 2010 forum knife", or "Please vote only if you intend to buy the knife you are voting for?"

My votes for the Queen Moose, but will take at least 1 of whichever is ultimately voted.

My vote is a commitment to buy one or more Ebony Moose if it wins. I'm not interested in the others--they are too big for me.

Where does the idea come from that we are committed to buy knives we don't want, just to get a vote? I don't see that as uncool in the least. JMHO.

OK, hold on, I guess I totally worded that wrong. Scratch what I said about the number of knives, I don't know where that came from. Was I thinking that these were votes for saying "I'll take one"? I have no idea, guess I was in a fog from eating too much Easter dinner, and no, I didn't have a single drink, in hindsight, I guess I should have. All I mean't was that I hope all the folks who are voting are earnestly interested in that knife as their choice of a BFC knife they'd buy, and not just voting simply because they feel like being a part of the vote without any intention of following through. I'm definitely not trying to garner any votes as I never mentioned any of the knives in particular. Myself, I honestly don't care which one wins, I'm more interested in the fact that it's a BFC knife that we've all been involved in developing, and not what company or style I happen to prefer. It's a memento of the group that we've all become a part of, I guess that's kinda how I thought everyone felt. Sorry for the confusion:o

Eric

PS- I was sorely tempted to go back and scratch that dumb statement from my post, but better to leave it in so folks'll know what happened, and to see that I'm more often than not pretty idiotic.

I guess Berkely pretty much summed up what I was trying to say:

"Please vote only if you intend to buy the knife you are voting for"

 Cool. My vote and commitment stands as it is. Thanks for the clarification.

I think gajinoz, has the right idea. Select a 2010 knife via the poll and then run a separate thread to take orders from those interested in purchasing. This'll give non-voters a chance to join in and those that don't like the choice to bow out.

Even if you don't vote, you can buy the knife if you want.
After the poll, you send in your money and address, we add it to the order, and you get a knife. As simple as that.
I think everyone is making this too complicated.
If you like one of the knives, and intend to buy it if it wins, vote!!
If you will buy a knife regardless, but have a favorite, vote!
If you are not going to buy a knife at all, please do not vote!

It is gratifying to see so many of you participating. The three knives were carefully chosen, and all the cutleries know you are a tough crowd:D, so they are going to do their best to make a great knife!
We are their bread and butter, and we as a group are influential customers! I'm proud to be one of you!!!!

I finally got some better images of the GEC!
Please go to the original post to see two pics;
A Big Jack pattern like we are looking at, and a set of Brown Jigged bone handles on a slightly different knife, that will be the handles on our knife, if it is a GEC!
I apologize for not having an exact picture. It just hasn't happened.
If we do choose a GEC, it will be beautiful, and possibly exclusive!

Eric, it was clear to me all along what you meant:thumbup:

Charlie, that new image of the GEC is excellent, slanted bolsters like that are more than nice. Now, if the Moose doesn't come home I can always fall back on the Cigar:D Canal St. not for me though. This selection process is very good and gives us all decent choices, thank you:thumbup:
