2010 Knife - Let's Talk!

Glad to see you're back at full power Elliot

This is going to be a sick knife, exact shape of shield (break out the calculus), exact hue of wood (anyone got a Benjamin Moore paint chart?), and sharpness (it can take entire SECONDS to reprofile 1095) issues aside. Trying to pony up some discretionary spending money as we speak. Good thing I have a few more days.

wintermute, i hope these tools will help...

;)

Nice I can use that first batch of stuff to help my spiked lemonade stand along. And the second to call in reinforcements from the mothership.

Instead of pissing and moaning why don't you send a PM or email to the relevant parties to ask a question and make further inquiries rather than act like someone urinated in your Wheaties? These forums have been around for over ten years based upon the goodwill and cooperation of the members. Perhaps if you stick around a little longer you'll learn to appreciate that.

A little over the top in that first sentence I'd say and I do appreciate the goodwill and cooperation of the members at this site. I was just stating my .02¢ without any personal insults to anyone.

I received a PM from Modoc Ed a few moments ago and wanted to make a couple of points clear.

First, he couldn't have been nicer in explaining his point of view and his intent in having posted.

Second, it appears that his wording of the original message, and my written response to my take on his post could have both used a little leavening.

I'm here to go on record by saying that there are no hard feelings involved, Ed's a stand-up guy and I meant him no harm by my reply.

Hopefully Ed can get an answer as to why the shield may have been changed from Charlie or one of the other project managers and we can move on.

Thanks, Ed for the PM and being a straight shooter.

No problem Elliott. I guess I took the long way around to say I wasn't going to get the 2010 Forum Knife because of a shield change. Actually, it seems everyone is ok with it and buying like crazy. Who knows what'll happen when I wake up tomorrow. Maybe a straight shield will strike my fancy.

Anyway, I enjoy this site and talking knives with you guys.

Beers all around on me should we ever get together.

Hey Charlie,
I want to order one of these, but I am moving in a month due to job relocation. Can I place the order, and then email you or mikemoto my shipping address change?

Fit and finish are more important than a keen edge, that can be done at home. I do not sweat factory dull edges, I would prefer they take the time on the non fixable stuff.

Not trying to hijack or anything, but I've always kind thought that maybe Queen's D2 comes edgeless intentionally. Maybe they don't put a factory edge on the knife so that the owner can put their own preferred edge on it when they get it home.

I've never minded dull Queens and almost look forward to it because then I don't have to reset a factory edge, I just make my own.

Oh what the hell !!!!!

Ya know, I pulled out one of my clear-topped, knife, cases about a ½-hour ago and looking at all the knives in the box not one knife had the same type shield. Some are oval, some are straight, some are round, some are a double arrow, and one even has a beaver for a shield.

Looking at all the different shields got me thinking -- "Just what's got your nickers in a snit about the Blade Forum 2010 Knife Shield Ed"? "Nothing when I get right down to it"; I said to myself -- sooooooooooo, I ordered one via PAYPAL.

Hey "Blues"!!! Maybe when I get my knife, I'll have "Piss & Moan" engraved on the shield.:D

That is fine. Please add this fact as a note when you send payment.

Thanks Waynorth, I did find the non-conus sticky. Mailed off a money order for two knives to Mike this AM, one to use and one to keep mint. I would like to say thanks to waynorth and everyone else who put this together and thanks to Mike and Eric for responding promptly to my too many emails.

Never too many Dan, best to be clear about everything:thumbup:

Eric

PS - This thread's become very entertaining!;):thumbup::D
You guys couldn't have scripted that any better. Suspense, drama, intrigue, a happy ending, it's got it all!

Payment for one enroute via snail mail. Thanks for all the hard work in pulling this together.

with the help of Eric I just managed to order one of these beauties via paypal / NonConus.
I am really looking forward to it! :)

A huge THANK YOU for all the extra effort, Mike, Eric, and Charlie!

Best,
Peter

Money order sent out today for 2.

Thanks,
Glenn

Try the NON-CONUS sticky at the top of the page for Canadian orders.

How the heck did I manage to miss it  I was looking for it...not hard enough obviously :D

Anyway, thanks! I just sent my money order to Michael for two this morning

Alright the MO was mailed with pertinent info attached, I ordered 1. :)

Is there gonna be a page of shame for those who ordered and didn't pay, actually more like a page listing who ordered and who paid or still owed.;)

I'm sure Mike won't register an order without receiving the payment! I'm not a rich guy, and I'd wind up covering it!
Mike??
