Hi Everyone!
I was going to ship the knife out to Joe Mason today until I figured out the the post office was closed for Martin Luther King Junior's birthday. So I'll ship it out Wednesday.
Mr. Foster did a great job with his part of this project! Here are a few pictures of what I did after I got the knife back from Burt Foster.
Here I have finished hand sanding the blade and it is ready to be etched.
I etched the blade for 20 minutes going in five minute intervals, etch and clean the blade/ etch and clean the blade...
Here is a close up of the damascus pattern.
In this picture you can see how the damascus flows with the blade edge out the tip.
I etched Burt's makers mark then I etched mine.
Next I etched the thin damascus spacer in-between the guard and handle. The pattern on the damascus spacer is a "W" Ladder edge view.
In this picture I have epoxied the handle on with West Systems Epoxy and after letting it set over night I put the pin in the handle and cleaned up the ivory with a buffer.
And here's the knife ready to be sent off to Joe Mason for engraving.
Please excuse the poor photography. (I took these pictures not Caleb)
