It's fairly easy to hide up in the rafters of the old Queen Factory! (Achoo!) Hanging by one arm and one leg (Achoo!) while snapping pics is a little tougher though. And, there's (Achoo!) 100-plus years of dust up there!!
Managed to get this though!!

Interesting, no???

Achooooo!!:D

Applying a little subtle pressure, we have extracted the truth behind the handle!

Note, there is a slight "crimp" in the liner. This causes the liner to "spring" against the Ebony when it is riveted, lessening the chance of gaps showing. An old cutlery trick.

I hope these red letters aren't too obnoxious! I just wanted to differentiate this latest post, with the new blade pictures!!
These are tang stamped and ready for grinding and heat treating! Like the Pointer Sisters once sang, "I'm sooo ex-cited!
:)

Charlie, I had forgotten that BF 2010 knife... lol! when I saw your spy picture it just then after few second delay hit me: I am getting one too, how I could have forgotten it :D

Hi Charlie -

Cool!

It is interesting to see one in that stage of completion.

Do you know anything about that, i.e. is it how they build them to put the scales on the bolsters and then put it all together to do the sanding/shaping etc?

Very neat to see a picture of it - thanks for posting it!

best regards -

How did you come up with that one Charlie?
"The real story; (much more boring:yawn:)"
Actually, part of the deal was final approval on the shield they had in stock. So they inletted one to show me, and sent the pic.
It saved us a bunch of time and money, and it looks pretty good I think. I like the way the rounded ends are harmonious with the rounded bolsters, if you know what I mean.
They have a much smaller one, but this one seems just right.
And yes, it is pinned!!
They solder or spot-weld a pin on the back, and peen it inside the liner. You will be able to just see it inside.
This makes it easier to finish the shield to whatever depth is needed without losing the peen on the face.
I think GEC uses this method also.
Canal Street glues them.
AACHOOOO!!

Awww, I waited story that would make Solid Snake's adventures look like picnic. I already imagine Charlie using the notorious box infiltration combined with martial-arts, nightvision goggles and tranquilizor gun...

Thanks for the tease. It feels just like when I would find a Christmas present my parents had hidden two weeks before Christmas. I know it's there, I just can't do anything about it.

Thanks for the (rough) work in progress:D

Hope they remember to install the blades in the finished product:eek::D

Sounds glamorous, this life as an industrial spy:thumbup:

Helps keep us all salivating too!

SHHHH! You know I can't tell you the REAL story!
If I did, then I'd have to . . . . .you know . . . .as the Roman Emperors used to say - :thumbdn:!!

:D

Go back and see that new picture at the start of the thread! It's worth it, honest!!

Thanks Charlie. This is truly exciting for me to see. I'm bouncing off the walls waiting for this so it helps to see how it is progressing.
