Hi Stu

I will not open the knives. All warranty issues should be taken up with GEC.

I am dying to open one up!

Do you guys still plan to inspect them? or did you just mean not opening the tubes for the pictures?

It's GEC. Why bother?

I gotta admit, I never was interested in a toenail, but I might join the bandwagon this time around.

WooHoo!! Cant wait for my package, and im definitely down for a swell center toenail in 2012.

I was wondering that myself Stu. I remember when the 2011 Forum Knife was being worked up and orders were being taken that one of the coordinators said that every piece would be inspected before they were shipped out. I thought when I read that that was a tall order ----------- but stillllllllllllllllllllllll.

Wow! Which one is mine? ;) Thanks again for all the hard work guys. Can't wait to get this one!

Hi guys

It was mentioned early ib the process, but we have been counseled against the notion.

Think about the project and the ramifications of a volunteer organizer being responsible for every knife.

I promise I will ship you each a 1st quality, fully warrantied knife from the good folks at GEC.

Best regards

Because GEC has been known to let one or more sub-par knives slip by on occasion. They're not perfect.

I dont know any production maker that is, but for a small run going to knife knuts I'd wager we'll be getting one fine knife in the mail (or multiples for some people).

So excited to get mine!!!

I was the guy who said we would inspect them, but I thought we would and that I understood that what's what happened in the past. But after talking to GEC and committee members from past years, we thought it was best to let GEC handle customer service directly. They are the best in the business at it.

Plus there are subjective players at work. What I think is a problem...maybe you don't. Vice Versa. It needs to be the end user to determine if the knife is satisfactory to him and make a decision to contact GEC. We've put a butt load of time into this and it's has taken a butttllloooad of our time. If we can do less work while at the same time the job gets done better than what we could do (oh and remember....part of the price of your knife is paying them to fix it if it breaks).....the GEC is the logical choice. Hopefully, they will all come back perfect. If they don't, GEC will fix or replace it. Easy as that.

As Andy said, we admit we probably spoke out of turn about looking at every knife, but really that is tough. Andy, myself nor Campbell work in Quality Control, and even if we did, we do not work for a knife company, so we could not do that job justice. We are going to have to trust GEC, as that is the company we chose, and they chose us to do this SFO run. If there is a problem with your knife, we are confident that GEC can take care of anything that needs to be taken care of. No children will be left behind. :)
Not looking and shipping sight unseen will prevent anonymous death threats for Andy. He hates those.....

Edited to add,

Looks like Campbell beat me to the punch.

Ok...i'm making an executive decision. This threads needs to be closed. Wip has ended. Distribution beings. Mods, please lock as we will be opening a new thread about mailings, thoughts, commemts, complaints, ideas for next year (i vote gec 100%). Let's shut'r down and start one up....

That's all we can ask. Thanks for your efforts. You guys have done a good job.

In my knife experience, GEC are the most consistent production company and the least likely to let out a bad knife than anybody else. By a long chalk too! Looking forward to mine and thanks to everybody.

Just asking.

GEC is the best I have owned, only one out of eight had to be sent back for a problem, and their service was great.

Now hurry up and ship em already!;)
