2011 le

Never had the pleasure of owning an annual, but maybe one day.

I tried ordering a damascus Regular blade from CRK, and was told no!!!!!!. A guy's gotta try.

I was told the same thing when I inquired about a damascus blade for a large regular sebenza. Blades are no longer offered in damascus for the regular profile. I just waited too long.......My Bad.

I've never owned a regular - only 21's - How is the blade profile different? I thought only the scales were different.?

I just canceled my order. While I like the hard brush finish of the wood, I don`t quite like the color of the wood nor the silver/gold inlays.

I guess somebody from the waiting list will be happy about this. ;)

I'm typing this on my phone or I would happily post the links for you. But there are several threads and utube videos showing the differences. A quick way to notice is in the "pictures only" sticky at the top ^, look through some of those pictures, like the uys who have 30 + knives in one picture. I think you'll quickly see a difference.

Yes, thank you. I'm first on Jesse's list of standbys. Heather was still waiting to hear back from some people and the knives are still being made so I was pretty hopeful. I'm sure you aren't the first to cancel your order as this is quite a departure from their usual rendition of the Annual. I'm also not a fan of gold colored jewelry and it's been out of favor fashion-wise for awhile. But I love the rugged brushed finish of the wood. It looks like some kind of Viking artifact to me and the gold is in keeping with that at least. I also think not having damascus blades will discourage people from pulling the trigger. If you are going to splurge, splurge big with damascus. It's like getting a Mercedes without leather seats...sure the MBtex is more practical but come on.

You`re welcome. Glad that my cancellation beneits somebody else! ;)

For me the silver/gold accents were the dealbreaker-they just look too fancy in my opinion. I agree on the finish of the wood - it is interesting/nice.

Enjoy your 2011 annual! :)

I'm with you 100% of the way on this. At first I thought it was tacky. Actually, I still think it is kind of tacky and gaudy but I started thinking that it looks like a shipwreck artifact. That to me in itself is cool.
I think that the damascus deal is complete bullcrap.

Wenge???

Edit - never mind, got it...

Just got word from Heather this years annual wood will be Wedge only. With the gold and silver inlays like the one at Plaza Knife Show. I'm gonna be putting in my order for a large left hand one today.:cool::D

With them not making damascus or S35VN regular blades it makes me wonder if this is the last year for Annuals or at least in the regular configuration.

I wonder if the Large or Small is more popular in the Annual. I would guess the large (only $55 more) because you get more wood surface and the blade is more distinct from the 21 blade in large. Any thoughts? I've never heard overall large vs. small, which is a better seller.

That looks good MVG. How did you get it? I thought they were still being made.

Thanks BBQ BOY. I picked it up at the California Custom Knife Show. Chris had one small and one large for sale.

Okay scratch that---Jesse just told me that Heather is in charge of the standby list and it's full, got my hopes up for nothing :grumpy:

Anyone want to sell me their spot?

I do not like the look of the embedded gold at all. And why the drastic price premium? Surely it can't be the little bit of gold causing it, or is it? I was going to try and grab one of these from a dealer for my brother's 30th, but instead I will likely order one with micarta inlays.
