Here we go! :):):)

Team 2011 (Andy aka Mqqn, Campbell aka Cnas122 and Chris aka Cj65) are honored to organize the process to develop the 2011 Forum knife. We are committed to Spark, but more specifically to the Moderators as well as all in the Traditional Forum who will be purchasing the forum knife to deliver a much coveted annual BF traditional slip joint knife. Arriving at a pattern, scale material and all the trimmings with your input (those who are committing to purchase) is the end game. Having all of you feel involved in the process is our primary concern. We will do this by popular vote under the framework of what our determined manufacturer can do and/or produce. We will shoot for all knives to be shipped and received by Christmas 2011. We feel it is important to provide updates and transparency during the process. The cost of the knife shipped to your door shall not exceed $100.00 US (may be a bit more for non Con US). We 3 feel it is a privilege and an honor to volunteer for this year’s task. This will be a daunting task since the previous years’ knives turned out so extremely well.

So, for right now........

We want to hear from you what pattern you would like to have. Feel free to mention a manufacturer too, but of course we would be limited to who can do it for us, and how many sign up. Please only post your thoughts if you intend to purchase a forum knife.

Scales, blade material, blade style, # of blades etc. are not a primary concern yet, but we know you will throw that in here too, and that is fine.;) This is to be fun, so let's get that cart moving before the horse.

What are your pattern preferences?

I almost forgot.

I would like to see a toe nail, a teardrop harness jack, or a peanut.

What say you?

Gentlemen, as a new member ( 7 whole weeks !!), I personally will be ordering one & would also like to thank you for your personal time you will invest in this undaunting venture (adventure might be more appropriate).
Thanks to all.
Be safe.

Thanks to you three guys for taking on a job for miracle workers:thumbup:
A peanut sounds good to me, but I'm in for whatever pattern wins the most votes. I do hope GEC will be among the manufacturers under consideration.

I'd love to see a Toenail/Sunfish, but I doubt we'd get that under the $100 limit. I'm sure we could sneak a Texas Toothpick under the wire, though. :D

My suggestion would be for a "Canlow" -- a single backspring Canoe w/ a Spear (main) & Wharny (secondary) blades. Think of it as having the two blades from the Dan Burke/Queen Barlow in a (Queen-made?) single backpring Canoe frame. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing the next one in D2 or perhaps even CPM-154... I never thought I'd develop a preference for stainless blades in a slip-joint, but some of my recent stainless (or "semi-stainless") slippies have been growing on me.

Otherwise, I'd like to see a 4" Trapper w/ a long swedged clip and a Wharny secondary blade.

Hi Chris -

Perfect!

I would love to see a peanut or a trapper, two of my personal favorites.

I also liked the Harness Jacks that were posted up as suggestions for last year.

It will be interesting to watch this thread grow.

best regards -

mqqn

My vote would be a congress or hawbaker muskrat.

I like this!

...maybe with amber stag or red jigged bone...

Well done guys, taking on such a task. As for pattern swayback jack or slimline trapper, stay or antique jigged bone. Steven

Large (4-1/8") 2 spring congress with Case's blade selection. Wishful thinking I know :)

I am a user every day. I always find a need to cut. My tastes and wants have changed as I have become more exposed to you insiduously dangerous folks.

I will be happy with anything that cuts. If it has more than one blade, I would prefer one blade to be a Sheepsfoot or Wharnciffe. Sowbelly, Half Congress, Fur Taker, Large Stockman, Hawbaker, etc.

I defer to more knowledgable and experienced BF Members.

I am definitely in for one knife.

Hold it right there pilgrim, :grumpy:, name your pattern cowboy! ;)

Hot dang, caught this one early! :D

Many thanks to Andy, Campbell and Chris for taking on this monster.

Regardless of the selection, count me in for 2! Because I know some poor schmuck will miss this one and go scrambling to find one next year once they are all spoken for. Don't ask me how I know this will happen, I just know. ;)

So to recap, I'm in for 2, pattern doesn't matter and let me know when to send the payment and shipping material! Oh, and a 4" Toothpick would be sweet! Or a Wharncliffe Swayback.
