I've been holding back this picture of my Imperial Easy Open Jack WITH Bail manufactured sometime during the period 1936 -1952.

My main purpose in posting this picture is to show the Bail. If an Easy Open Jack is selected, it makes no difference to me whether it is an Easy Open Jack as shown or whether it is a Tear Drop Eashy Open Jack as long as it is offered WITH a Bail.

When a list of knives is presented, and if an Easy Open Jack is included, the list should include an option for a Bail something like this.

Easy Open Jack -- no bail
Easy Open Jack -- with bail
Tear Drop Easy Open Jack -- no bail
Tear Drop Easy Open Jack -- with bail
Tear Drop Jack
Trapper
etc., etc., etc.,

I must say that the spear blade of waynorth's last picture is quite nice.

I just want to thank all those from the easy open delegation for all their support in trying to get this great pattern brought to realization as Forum knife 2011.:D

Errrr uh Corey -- Where are the Bails!!!:)

That's a nice Schatt & Morgan but I would say to the guys in charge of the 2011 Blade Forums Knife:

Please!! Nothing from Queen this time around. Their offerings of late leave a lot to be desired as evidenced by some of the 2009 and 2010 Blade Forums Knives. My .02¢

Ha! Just throwin' out some more eye candy there Ed.

My first vote would be a EO with the caplifter/screwdriver and....A BAIL!:D

OK, you got me.

What were some of the problems? I ask, because I have quite a few Queens, and my beloved 2009 Forum Barlow, and they are some of the best knives I've bought. Even the edge on my 2009 Forum Barlow was fine, and that's the only thing most people complain about with regard to Queen's knives. Am I just lucky?

Well, I'll tell ya Corey. I'd like to see a caplifter/screwdriver blade as the secondary blade too. That'd be great and a bail would be the gravy.:D

I think the bail finishes this pattern. If you look at the last pic thats the way it rides in your pocket.

To me, it's six to one, half dozen to the other when it comes to the bail and second blade/lifter... I could go either way. I do hope for the mega-teardrop rather than jack blade though... a natural bone or stag would look great!

I too think the large teardrop would be great. A light colored bone would be fantastic.

Amos, I think you are talking about this knife, with the small cutout on top for access to the punch!?

I suspect those wanting an EO are envisioning the larger notch for an easy "pinch-open knife, as on the Wilbert in a previous post.

It looks like an Easy-Open Teardrop is a clear leader!

That's the one. Sure is pretty. I like mine, but I'm still most partial to that heavy sprung, 1095, smaller on that was first of the series. But there is a lot to love about that one.

what was wrong with either? besides queen not knowing how to sharpen a knife if their life depended on it. I reprofile knives when I get them anyway so its no big deal to me, the 2010 moose is the best knife I own, I love it.

Agreed, I'm holdin' my 2009 Forum Barlow in my hand and it's one of my favorites, F&F are outstandin'.

No light can be seen through the scales or liners, springs are flush open and closed, swedges are crip and clean, scale are gorgeous, walk and talk are perfect, if I had to find fault of any kind it would be that the edge outta the box was lackin' but that was all.

I'm guessing they paid special attention to the forum knife. I haven't been real impressed with Queen or Case lately. I don't know who that leaves. Maybe GEC?
I wouldn't turn down a knife from Queen or Case either, I just get the feeling it's hit or miss with their regular production knives.

So far there are are about 8 knives that have had some fitting problems. Most have gone back to Queen, and I'm waiting to hear the results of some. A few have slight gaps that are very small, and can't be fixed. Two had slight wobble, and at least one was fixed so far.
Out of 130 knives, I don't think that's bad at all.

Not an excuse, but, workers are having trouble staying in the cutlery industry because of reduced wages and hours. I hope the economy picks the cutleries up as it slowly (very slowly) improves.
I suspect we'll see some stumbles before things get real good again. I just hope these remaining cutleries all survive.
In general I think their quality is still good.
Keep me posted if you do have a complaint on your knives, please, so I can keep track.

I think we have a very good idea as to what we are going to put to poll. The next step is a poll that will be coming soon. I want to thank all who voted in this, and participates. Campbell, Andy, and myself really want this to be as democratic as possible. So just a friendly reminder, keep sending comments as long as you are pretty dig burn sure you are going to purchase a knife.

As we move to narrow down the patterns and other criteria, remember that we are going to be limited as to which Cutlery company can and will make this knife. Our theme is to keep it as democratic as possible while working with a manufacturer.

Happy New Year and thanks to all for all your great ideas. Thank you Charlie (Waynorth) for all your experience and help.

I now terminate my first sticky in my BF career.:D

Gus, can you please unsticky this one Sir?
