2012 condor line

This is why I realistically predicted that it would probably be early this month. :D

I got tired of waiting for the Kephart and bought a Becker BK16 instead. I found it very disappointing for what I paid. I'm thinking of selling the BK16 and picking up two Kepharts for about the same I paid for the Becker. It's very hard to be patient.

Yeah, and the way I always look at it is I'd rather wait a little longer for a well-done product than push them to rush it and mess something up. Helps take the sting out of waiting. :p

What did you find disappointing? I loved the ergonomics but the original grind was awful, and it doesn't like to take an edge. When it does take an edge, the sheath or a little use dulls the hell out of it. I found it to be an outstanding design, but poor edge retention and sheath.

Whenever someone says a certain month, assume it is the next month. At least with the few brands I follow.

I've progressed to doubling however much time they give themselves. Even when people think they are being grossly pessimistic, Murphy laughs at them.

I dislike everything about the sheath, the coating is ridiculously rough, and the cap screw/nut construction is a filth and moisture trap. I think they could have done a lot better for what they are charging.

Any updates on the 2012 Condor line yet ?

Any knife handle is a dirt/filth/moisture trap. The Becker handles can be removed for maintenance. That can not be said for every knife. Including Condor knives. You can also strip the blade if you wish, which would make it rust even more easily. As far as the edge, I have batonned my BK16 through some super hard, twisted, knotty black walnut. It was sharp enough to shave paper afterwards. But lets stay on topic please. Refer your dislike of the BK16 to the Becker forum please.

2012 Condor---are we there yet ??? LOL :D

I stripped it. Actually love how that turned out. If it wouldn't dull seemingly every time it comes out of the sheath it'd be a rockin' knife. As for the sheath, pull the liner out with pliers, hit it with a heat gun or hair dryer and press the sides together so that they touch and hold it til it cools down, and the retention will be 10x better. Might even grow on you. I'm not giving up on it, but it's the only one I'm gonna buy.

Yeah no news yet, but I seem to recall that it takes about two weeks for stuff to arrive from El Salvador. As Joshua J. mentioned, Murphy seems to enjoy wreaking havoc on manufacturers any time they make an estimate. :p

They'll all probably be landing at pretty close to the same time since orders placed by distributors contain most or all of the new models, and won't be shipped until the whole order can be fulfilled. :)

^^^ lol :D That is code speak if i ever heard it !!! Not even gonna ask what that actually means. :D This summer, next summer, what ever.

Ya really, but at least it'll give me more time to set money aside to get the ones i want.

Basically Condor has a large minimum order quantity because of their overseas status, so it's usually distributors that place direct orders. and all of the ordered product ships as one big shipment. And since Condor works on the new models in batches that means that if a distributor orders items A, B, C, and D and they only have finished doing production runs of A, B, and C then the distributor's order won't ship out until the production run of D is done. :)

So basically, Just because the overwhelming majority of the models first production runs have been completed, the remaining few that need to be done hold up the whole shipment. There was one retailer out there that had placed a direct order that only included two Woodlaws, for instance, and the order was able to be fulfilled because they had two of that model on hand to send. I don't know what models are done or not other than that one, but I do know things are very close. My distributor just called me the other day to tell me that I could expect the items I had ordered soon.

Thanks 42, i really do understand the whole overseas order thing. One container full of knives is cheaper than to send it piecemeal-a few boxes here & there in many different containers. I just couldn't resist the urge to poke fun at your code-talk. LOL :D Passing the time away.

LOL--you did raise a valid point that not everyone would get what I was rambling on about, though! The clarification wasn't just for your benefit. :D

Hey 42, can i have my Warlock yet?

See, i've got this tree, and it still has limbs on it... the 35 other knives i've got just aren't up to the task... i needs me a warlock!

:(
