2012 OKCA Thread

I gotta do this show...To much fun to be had, might have to bring a mobile down and crash in the parking lot like the full timers do, give the wife a taste of OUR retirement plan!:D

I guess that's what I get for complaining! :)

Hey I think cranberry is the new black.

Ok Ok John, Just messing with you. I made you normal, well your name anyway!

Greg, come on down be nice to meet you and your lady!

I'm good for sharing a table Greg! Not so sure about sharing a motor home....
I think I can have one knife to show by April.
Book it! I'll drop my share of the fee this weekend! Can we get one by Jonny and Ryan???
Or Raymond and Dave Lisch?
It feels like when I was a kid waiting for Christmas morning already! I can't wait!

This is another Lorien Design. These just seem to jump off my grinder, I love making them. It is a great design Lorien!

I'm surprised that design has legs as long as it does! I'm very proud to be associated with your work my friend. Let me know next time to have a design itch that needs scratchin!

Not a knife, but I will have this displayed on my table:

Mammoth tusk
About 37" long, almost 10 lbs.
Pretty much all blue

:D

I'll bring my hacksaw!

Hey John, if you need someone to watch your table for a bit while you wander around I'd be happy to help :D

Jason, Ryan and I will take turns watching your table. We'll draw straws to see who goes first.

That is superb looking.

Okay, anyone watching my table is going to have to get a shake down for saws. :)
But for the right price, the high bidder can do whatever he wants with the tusk. :D

I did make a little progress on knives for the show.

I forged this yesterday and got it rough ground today. It's a big one, around 10 3/4" of actual cutting edge on this.

Looking good, John! Can't wait to get a look at that tusk up close. That thing is awesome!

Here is a 14" blade bowie I am working on, and hope to have finished in time. It will either be a sub hilt or ring hilt, I haven't decided yet.
OAL should be about 20" :D

Last time I saw you Doyle you were juggling 2 awards. Slide down and visit me at Q12. Pete

Pete, that's preposterous. You know very well that I can't juggle. :)

You're probably the main guy that talked me into going this year. Looking forward to visiting with you again. Wish our tables were closer. See you there buddy!

Here are two I WILL have finished for critique. The San-Mai blade was from a lesson with Chuck Richards. I'm hoping to have a few more than this done. I think a few of us will do a mini hammer in with Chuck in Salem in February after he gets back from the ABS Expo in San Antonio.
That Blue Mammoth Ivory sure tempts me. I have a mini damascus bowie by Rusty Polk with Green mammoth ivory on it and I love the look.

Looks like everyone is moving forward nicely! Pete I updated the map in the first post. Looking forward to meeting you.

Finishing up one of my AGRO II's (don't do too many of these)
