Methinks Spark was so happy working with GEC last year with its outstanding result, plus the preliminary work that GEC did for this year's knife, that he has focused on GEC. But that is not an official statement.
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is available! Price is $250 ea (shipped within CONUS).

It is a rather plain shield. I think the bar shield looks OK, but an older look would suit me better. I like the curved look of the fancy shield on this old Remington congress jack. The shield used appears to be custom suited for a congress pattern. This picture is from pg 181 of Levines 4th. He groups curved jacks and congress jacks together, along with the old thin sway-back jack pattern.
Levine writes, "Curved jacks that have all four corners squared and that are equal-ended, or only slightly tapered, are called congress jacks. The congress shape is ordinarily a a pen knife handle die, but some firms, I guess just to be different, made congress jacks as well."
"Just to be different..." I like that. This will be a sweet knife.
I love the bar shield. However, I'd be pleased with the standard keyhole shield they use for their smooth-handled offerings.
If I could dream: propeller shield!
I had been hoping for something very much like what you show here. However, the bar is not a deal killer for me. Just think its a little plain for what is shaping up to be quite a looker.
GEC apparently is already tooled for it as well.
Did the 2009 barlow ever get turned into a production model? I want one bad!
It does look nice indeed. I just hope the nick of the sheepsfoot blade is higher/longer enough to allow a comfortable opening.
