Well, it's been a busy week here in the first 2013 knife poll! While the sodbuster kept up with the congresses on that first evening, the congresses have since pulled away to have more votes than the next several patterns combined. Dave, Frank, Gary and I have discussed it, and in the interest of moving things along so that we can all actually have these knives in our pockets, we will be posting several polls at once - one will be to choose "half" or jack pattern and size range, one for cover type, and one for steel type. Bear in mind that the size, steel, and cover polls will not set the details, but rather the general direction, since we won't know exactly what can be offered with these options until we send out for bids. For example, something like "purple horsecut jigged micarta" won't be an option because we don't know if anyone can provide it. However, "micarta" can get us in the right direction as far as bidding it out to manufacturers goes. Same thing with the size and steel.

Please keep in mind that we won't have specifics for any cover types (colors, textures, etc.) until we talk to the manufacturers.

Please be sure to vote in all polls, if you have a preference. We will sticky them so they're easy to find.

We would like to thank everyone who has chipped in with votes and ideas so far. I think it will be pretty neat to have a knife with a little bit of all of us in it!

This poll will stay open until March 3.

Crap....can't decide between Ivory Micarta and something like GECs rotten banana bone. Just know I would like to see something lighter in color. More Sunday go to meeting in keeping with this design.

Ivory Micarta FTW!

grew up with jigged delrin, so no prejudice against synthetics as a traditional material -- and I think paperstone would look great on a congress. (so would burlap micarta)

Went for wood but I'm hoping for natural material so bone's good to, looks like I'm in a minority though :)

As Corey had mentioned earlier, I think this would be sweet in tortoise shell, but I'd love a Micarta too.

All options are valid, but I want something not used before MICARTA ANTIQUE IVORY or other lighter colours. Faux Tortoise be very welcome too.

Got a lot on dark toned jigged bone knives here and there already.

I would like cocobolo or other nice wood other than ebony (olive wood is a nice light alternative that I have yet to add to my collection, or a curly/Birdseye maple), and thus my choice, however as far as synthetics go I would be happy with white micarta as well. I'm not generally a fan of Delrin/acrylics, and think that the micarta would hold up well for carry purposes while still looking good. With that said my primary concern with a white material is discoloration/color variation from construction making some buyers critical of the finished product. I don't think I would mind a bit of grit/polishing compound visible as long as it is minor, but see some not being as forgiving of a manufacturer. I'm still excited about this year so far!

I´d like to see Congress (Knife or Jack) with nice wood scales - preferable ebony :D

That would look great on that pattern.
