Yeah, I understand that; I honestly thought we'd have more to actually report on by now instead of saying "Bill's ready whenever we are." I'd like to see whatever paid orders Spark has go to production now, as well, just so we can move things along. Hopefully, he'll let us know what his plans are soon.

Regardless of the outcome appreciate the work folks like B and the others on the committee have put in.

I see some comments about the price of the forum knife being too rich. If one considers that our knife has requirements outside of GEC's normal supply chain $10 $20 above a standard offering is not bad. We get a unique knife with nickel silver liners in a limited run. Say GEC makes 100 or 200 knives that premium would equate to $1000 $4000 to GEC. As an economic proposal hardly even worth the trouble for a company with employees to support. Then there is the if I knew what it would look like I might order crowd ... has a forum knife ever not been salable? The last 2011 went in 10 min! If ordered and one does not like it, then sell it. These are just my thoughts IMHO after reading many posts. I appreciate the work folks have put in on this project.

My understanding is that the link on the first page will continue working as long as an order can be placed.

Just ordered! I'm looking forward to it!

Hopefully it will be getting on the road soon, but I understand the delays.

Thanks for the update and all your work Blaine and the rest of you guys too.

I know it's hard but be patient it'll happen, getting riled up only makes the wait harder, I remember one year the knives didn't come till February of the following year, (don't recall what year it was if anyone remembers please chime in).

My point is these folks donate a lot of time to pull this off and its frustrating to those who are waiting but even more so for them because not only are they waiting too but they have to deal with all of us, so please be patient and don't beat up the members who volunteered for this project.

Thanks again for all you guys are doing to make this happen and keeping us informed.

Maybe we can ask Spark to set a cutoff date, like the end of this month? Then perhaps he could place the orders with GEC on Sept 3rd, so they can get us on their production schedule and maybe we'll see the knives before Christmas?

I don't believe that a cutoff date is the issue here. The original order date was when 125 of these had been ordered and paid for. That threshold has been passed for quite some time, with no word that the order has actually been placed. From what I gathered from the beginning, there was some agreement to order 300 of these, with the order placed upon payment of the first 125. If that is indeed the case, the business decision (which is what this is, forum knife or not) may not be looking all that good based on the apparent lack of early interest. No one would want to have to place an agreed upon order of 300 of anything only to have to potentially heavily discount (probably below cost) a third or so of the unsold stock to regain a portion of the original investment. If that's not the case, I'd be surprised, as all it would have taken is a phone call and a bank transfer to get the ball rolling over a month ago. Instead, we continue to here much of nothing. If I'm wrong, and if I offended anybody, I apologize, but I call 'em like I see 'em.

If=> 150 knives pre sold and total obligation = 300 knives.
Then 150 * $130 = $19,500 outstanding balance. Them is some big numbers.

I think that Spark was quite clear as to when he would do it in his last update. Apparently, it's not time yet. There are bigger things than this cooking obviously. Hang in there! :)

[...] They need 50% down before they will begin work. If we can get 125 pre-orders, they will be delivered within 10 weeks from deposit. [...]

Apologies if this has already been stated, but is the actual run thus projected to be 250 knives?

Pertinux - I've bumped it to 300, but we'll be good at 125 pre orders

Here's the thing. As of now and with the pace of preorders, I'm either going to have to greatly reduce the number of knives or cancel this. I wish I didn't have to do so, but the preorders just haven't been there. Between increases in server costs, costs of my business moving and everything else, I may have to start issuing refunds, because I can't float a huge project like this with a ton of fence sitters.

Yeah, that's probably what's going to happen. Cut it down to 140 or so pieces and call it a wrap.

I'll buy another one if it helps us get to 140. Right now, I don't know what we need or whether this project is even going forward. An update with specifics would help. With all due respect, no one likes to be kept in the dark.

I don't want to sound like a cheapskate, but 130 bucks is a lot to me and I would like to know what is happening.

I'm in no real hurry but I gotta say a little update would be nice... Even if its just a sentence.

We all would getout. Just as soon as we know something it will be posted.
